Auto-walk is disabled, and the problem persists. On both old and new controllers. I appreciate everyone's feedback and have seen a few other posts about this issue elsewhere, and no one seems to be able to solve it. I guess I'll exchange this brand new controller and see if I just got unlucky with two bad controllers back-to-back.

My only work around so far has been to switch the functions of L1 and L2, where L1 becomes my access to my left side hot bar. The L2 still makes the character walk, but by switching the functions, I would never use L2. However, switching to L1for the hotbar access when you've been playing for years using L2 makes for very awkward gameplay.

Sucks to hear that didn't work out. Only remaining thing I can suggest is are you using your controllers wireless or wired with a usb cable?

If wired, the cable might be a culprit and might be the one responsible, since it seems to be occurring on all your controllers, new or old. If you're using it wireless, I have no ideas beyond the grim possibility your PS4's bluetooth function is acting up. Does using L2 in other games cause any other weird problems or just FF14? You could also try re-pairing the controllers with the PS4 and see if that works.

This is really strange, have you checked the bug report forum? I've never had this happen. At the most sometimes I start walking when I'm dodging and I figure its because my controller is loosing some sensitivity.

This happens on both an old and a brand new controller. Since I play casters almost exclusively, this has broken the game for me. Is anyone else experiencing this or know a solution?
I thought that I was the only one.

What you are experiencing, I do with R2.
The only thing that works for me is blowing hard into the controller. It seems that over time, dirt and residue goes into the controller causing issues.

Have a link for you here. Hope it helps you.

That doesn't sound like a problem with the hardware in particular, but rather the drivers and how the game interprets them. Playing with an XBox One controller on PC, sometimes the analog sticks will lock movement and my camera will spin whilst the character runs, all without input. Besides FFXIV, that only happened to me one or two times in Dragon's Dogma and never in any other game, and I do use my controller a lot. The only other problem I have is that this thing is a bitch to connect.

A friend of mine has the same exact issue, she plays SMN on PS4 and L2 makes her character walk to the left. She usually plays with the cable plugged in, I suggested her to try and play wireless and we'll see if that can solve the problem.

Your controller is fine, just turn the sensitivity down. It happened to me, normally it's set very low
