L2 on PS4 Controller Making Character Walk, Causing casting interruptions

Either tapping or holding the L2 results in walking, thereby interrupting casting on actions tied to the left crossbar. I am not confusing this with L1, the walk/run toggle. Also, setting configuration to hold, mixed, or toggle does not fix the issue. No keys are bound to L2. Resetting the controllers does not fix the issue. This happens on both an old and a brand new controller. Since I play casters almost exclusively, this has broken the game for me. Is anyone else experiencing this or know a solution?

Yup... this happened to me about 3 months ago, and unfortunately for me it was my controller was "dying". I have no clue why controllers now days are so cheap (yet you spend out the butt for them...) and hardly last. Yet my Gamecube controller I had from when I first got my Gamecube back when they first came out is and still works in pristine condition. /sigh

Anywhoozles, rant aside for me and 99% most likely for you it's time to get a new controller, the minute I had a new controller all problems like that stopped and hasn't came back since.

I have this problem on my xbox one controller and I just turned auto walk off and fixed it.

On my PS4 controller the L2 only highlight the left side of the cross-bar. No auto-walk, that is on L1.

I think system configuration -> controller -> 2nd option

System Config -> gamepad settings -> uncheck 'enable L1/L2 (whatever it shows) + L stick auto run', assuming you're on PC based on your wording choice.

If you're playing on a PS4, there should be a similar worded option somewhere in the settings. Toggle it off and see if your problem continues to persist.

Uh never happend to me. L2 is my leftside on my cross hotbar. And i been playing on PS4 since launch

Been playing with the Dualshock 4 I bought when they were released oddly a week before the system. I've had to do a couple repairs on it, but have yet to have L2 do anything besides select the left half of my hotbar. I would try recalibrating; I know you said you tried resetting the controller, but if you're on PC, did you reset on FFXIVs client, Windows, or both?

Playstation 4 controllers aren't very well made. I've had more than one go bad and they sure aren't cheap to replace. I had one replaced on warranty but that's since expired.

I was going to say they aren't that bad; but then realized that repairing the X button and replacing the worn sticks might suggest otherwise ($5 was cheaper for getting the $0.20 sticks shipped to me than buying a new one though!). To be fair, those issues only cropped up this year and I've had it since the week they were put on store shelves. Might just be a real world RNG thing and I lucked out, though.
