i still don't quite get why people don't like WM/GB. even before i got my GB i wasn't running crazy while DPS'ing. granted i don't really know if bards get as many oGCD moves as MCH or if their combo becomes insta-casts like MCH with ammo.

It dramatically changes both classes to a something else

Minuet should've been a song with a cast time that drains MP and buffs the bard until MP is drained or the song is canceled. Like Foe, but for self. It would've been 100% in line with the established play style, wouldn't have gotten in the way of using oGCD and also would've given some new choices to make in the midst of combat. Am I going to be supporting the party any time soon? Will Foe increase party dps more than Minuet? Will this fight last long enough to justify the cast time? And if they wanted to enforce standing still, they could have made the song drain double MP when on the move.
MCH could stay the way it is in my opinion. Its other mechanics allow instant casts while keeping the buff, and I would prefer the job being different from bard if bard is given back its original game play.

That would just widen the gap between MCH and BRD and not in a good way, especially when it comes to raids. MCH would become even more favourable because GB would always be better than WM (making MCH the strongest ranged support DPS).
Because WM buffs the BRD's overall damage, that will imply WM drains MP as fast as Foe's does. Given that MP takes awhile to fully regenerate during combat, that's roughly a few minutes of not being able to use Empyreal Arrow and Sidewinder.

I find it odd how the argument is so "night and day." I don't main a BRD but I did prefer its instant cast/maneuverability since you cold rely on it to maintain your DPS while getting out of an AoE. Another example is to maintain range for your buffs/debuff. Its not a matter of 'igottaruneverysecondomgcantstop', its the option of reaction based movement with no loss to your gameplay.
I wonder if people complaining about a lack of mobility have ever cast a flare in their entire lives.
With stutter stepping being so easy to do, the actual amount of time you have to stand still per skill is more like 1 second.

At this point in time, I'm already used to WM. But wouldn't mind getting rid of it's cast time :3

I'm pretty used to WM at this point so it doesn't bother me and frankly I fend it makes my attacks feel more impactful. Still removing it would be fine for me except I would be concerned at the price such a change would come at. While in high mobility fights BRD would shine, in fights where a group is more static BRD dps would end up rubbish since it would be balanced around being able to sustain continual dps while moving. That would make the class a little too niche for my liking.
Making WM a MP consuming ability would be bad too. People might not like to admit it but BRD is a support class. If your burning up all your MP on dps then your ability to provide support tanks. You just become a second rate dps.
What I find funny is in 2.x, all the good BRD stood still and rarely moved because moving around lost autos, and that was a good chunk of DPS (especially under Barrage. Oh, boy, I do remember BRD who ran around after using that and ugh...so bad).
Only time I remember my static's BRD moving around a lot was when he had to do movement-intensive mechanics (like Renauld duty or that tether in T8); any other time he basically was another caster.

Good bards know how to move without losing autos, so those weren't good bards.
