What if the new Job is Beastmaster?

Call me crazy, but what if the new job is Beastmaster? The obvious answers seems to be Dancer, Samurai, or Blue Mage, but as Astrologian seems to incorporate elements of Time Mage, what if we got Beast Master with a slight affinity to Blue Mage?

Traditionally a DPS class, what if FFXIV put it into the Tanking Role, and had the player Transform into a Beast to tank, similar to various stances?

I know this is coming pretty much out of nowhere, but hey, speculation is fun, right?

As for a weapon, I wouldn't mind seeing a Whip as a weapon, although if the character transforms into a beast I can't see how the weapon would matter much. Maybe a talisman? Could be intriguing if the standard form (stance) for DPS is your character's natural state, and the tanking form (stance) is a transformation that varies based upon your weapon. That could offer a wider variety of option of transformations. Everything from Coerls and Eftmaws and Elbasts to Tigers, Bears, and Wolves.

As much as i would love Dancer far more then Samurai which i find overhyped in ths forum, lol) i am thinking Sam will be the next job announced for Stormblood.
There is a rumour of 3 jobs however so who knows, if at all it will be BluMage and Sam or Dancer. Beastmaster perhaps later expansions

That being said, I honestly wouldn't mind a yeti form.

Nah, Druid from WoW is pretty standardized. You DPS as a Cat and Tank as a bear. The idea here is you could tank as any kind of Beast, since your weapon (Talisman) would result in the form you take. So maybe at level 1 you have a shrew talisman or something. Level 25 a Coerl Talisman. Using glamours you could then select whatever form you like at whichever level. So if you want to Tank as a tiger, but your current Talisman turns you into something like a Chimera, you can glamour the Tiger Talisman over the Chimera Talisman.

It kind of loses the charm (lol) going that route. Playing as BST is sort of centered around manipulation or dominance of another creature, as the use of monsters are literally as pets. Essentially, the player maintains control two characters (e.g. SMN). With the lackluster state of Egi's, I'd argue SMN in this game is a pretty gimped version of the iconic job.

Would be kind of sad to see BST be removed so much from its iconic form with the inclusion of shapeshifting or really poor pet mechanics. Then again, that's just attachment for naming convention more than anything else... if they called it something different, I don't think it'd matter as much.

If Beastmaster ever happened I would love them to add in Morpher from FFTA.

As said above allow for utility transformation, a different mob per Race. Little more then a travel form. Hell let party members ride you. It would have no bearing on raids or pvp but gods above, shapeshifting into a Lanner like hawk or a winged tiger or something would be fun.

While I do miss my fuzzy armor and faithful jug pets from back in my FFXI days, I dread how the job would transition to XIV's style of combat. Sadly I'd worry we would just end up with a reskinned summoner with crab, tiger, and opo-opo in the roles of the egis.

Yea. Beastmaster would be horrid from FFXIV...I mean...summoner is a good example of that in my opinion. Of all the options to choose from...all we have is three summons. Beastmaster would likely be just a big as a joke. "Hey guys! Play a beastmaster! How many pets do you get? 3. Enjoy!"

Likewise blue mage would be laughable, as they wouldn't give you enough mimicked abilitys to be fun. As it stands, I can pretty much guarentee you any three jobs they come out with will be very slightly different replicas of the jobs we already have (Bard and Machinist anyone?). But we'll shove it down are throats and make sure we smile as we tell everyone, OMG THIS JOB IS SO FUCKING BADASS! SO GLAD I WAITED THIS LONG FOR THIS!

Considering in the Naoki's Room segment the second day of the JP fanfest he pretty confirmed Beastmaster won't be coming for a long time. He stated he'd like to do it as another pet job but then said something like in 10 years. So not until the distant future at best.
