Please lift glamour restrictions!

My immediate reaction is, "Hell no!" but

The excuses we've seen in the past for the class/job restrictions have revolved largely around keeping jobs to certain "looks", but honestly I think we can pretty much dismiss that excuse considering you can glamour swimsuits and all those other level 1 armors that have no particular role in mind.

is a very good point. We've already passed the point of no return, in terms of job identity. A tank in Dragoon armor or Scholar robes is certainly no worse than a tank in a bikini.

If they did open up cross class glamour, I would still want them to keep the level restrictions. If you're a level 60 SCH trying to glamour a level 50 BRD hat, but your Archer is only level 10, you shouldn't be able to glamour it.

This is very simple to answer.
The system is simply not designed for this. The game still thinks you are wearing that item somewhere.
It is also the reason why you cannot glamour items that are above your level while you still have the correct job.
To do what you want will probably require a whole revision of the glamour system, if not the whole armor system of the game.

I honestly think my paladin in white mage gear from The Vault would be incredible, and fit more to my character ideals and choices. That being said, I don't expect or perhaps even want the option available in game.

Honestly, the glamour restriction is kinda pointless at this point. Tanks have always been able to wear cowls, robes and such to look like a (low level) mage. Heck, the Halloween event from two years ago rewarded us with gear that is very Black Mage-like in design.

Mages, on the other hand... we can't even wear harnesses or subligars :T

Not really. There'd really be no reason to implement new gear if they did this, just make a generic item with no appearance and have it up your stats when used.

Maybe occasionally release a few new glamour pieces and that's that. So fun.

I'm not sure how that follows at all. No job restrictions on glamour would just mean that... a player who has leveled X job and earned Y gear could use it to glamour on... whatever job they'd like. That's it. It doesn't devalue the gear at all.

Would you feel better if you could only glamour the job gear on any job if you'd reached the appropriate level on the job with the gear you want to use?

You and I may vehemently disagreed before OP. But definitely note here! Although, I'd go one better and ask they allow multiple glamour sets or somehow let you set it per job. Just because my Dark Knight looks edgy doesn't mean I want my Warrior to look the same.

Well, in that case, I should be able to equip any weapon as any job!! And use all of my job's abilities at once!! Why should I suddenly forget how to cast White Magic just because I picked up a Greatsword????? Well why can't I have Garuda-Egi out as a Black Mage, huh!? Why is my level lower when I equip a job that's lower than my main? Shouldn't they all be level 60, since I've already gotten to level 60 before? Gee Square Enix, talk about a bad game design!!

You must of not been around in 1.0 where with the exception of the main weapon, you could basically equip any piece of gear you could get your hands on. Also, are you twelve or something? Why are you so angry? Eat a Snickers bro.

You're blowing it a bit out of proportion. All the OP is suggesting is glamour gear, not weapons. Not sure why their opinion should trigger you so much. You want to add a stupid little fish.jpg, be insulting and blow it all out of proportion with the "while we're at its" and the mocking of others (EG: w-well) just to fuel your side of the argument, then you didn't have much to contribute to, much less be constructive and civil.

I think a happy compromise would be to leave drops and exclusive gear as is and just remove the restrictions from crafted gear.

Allow us to use the items as glam for another job as long as we have the item + and have the jobs leveled.

The thing is if you level the job you are that job regardless, if what your sayin is true then dont let us level everything on one character then and nobody wants that. How can you say lets play every job on one but then restrict the gear. What if I simply wana play my palidan as a whm with a sword in my head its called player freedom and SE gave us that when they made it to where you could put every job on one character. They dont explain it so why cant we use our gear to explain it ourselves if we chose to do so. What is the point in restricting the gear there is none, you have the choice to play every job as one so why act like that choice doesnt exist if a ninja wants to wear a whm robe and that person leveled whm then its nothing wrong with them wearing it.
