    Job Weapons

Have the developers stated whether the jobs will be using the same weapons as their classes? I am wondering if changing to a job will be done by equipping a job specific weapon or if it is more of a switch to go between class and job. I hope that they are job specific weapons to make the jobs more distinguishable from their classes. That, and it would help with jobs with more specific arms that may be added in the future, such as the samurai or ninja.

Has anyone heard for sure what the plan is for this?

as vision of Job is specialization of class, I think Job can use all of its base class can use. It is possible there will be equip that requires JOB, which cant equipped by his base class.

I really don't feel like finding the quote right now, but in a recent interview Yoshi P stated that changing jobs would involve equipping gems or something similar. Though nothing is confirmed, I think it's safe to say that yes, Jobs will use the same weapon types as their parent class.

Job specific weapons have also been confirmed quite a while ago and should(?) be making an appearance in 1.21 when jobs are introduced. It's not known if there will be class-specific weapons, though.

Hopefully, when you achieve job specific prerequisites, you can get better weapons. Paladins should still be able to wield a staff or club along with swords, shields and two-handed great-swords.

It would only make sense when you DO make the job, gear and equipment only gets better.

God I hope we don't get to wield Staves or Clubs. When you think of a Knight (Which is the actual name of the job, Paladin being the name the translators decided to use), I think of swords, shields and maybe great swords. I don't want a pair of weapons that we don't need.

Yeah, probably makes sense but kinda leaves out diversity of play styles. Separating Job and Classes is stage which should lead to another as far as Weapon Skills with whole new selections.
Jobs will most likely be isolated from the armory system. If it's not, it's not.

I hope there will be relic weapons for jobs. They said there would be job specific gear sets, but so far I've heard nothing of the sort for weapons.

Yes a Dragoon for example will be able to use previously equipped Lances, spears, etc. However, there is nothing from stopping SE from adding a specific Dragoon Lance, just as an example. For that matter they could add a Lancer only Spear too. It would be simple to add at this point with the way the armoury system is designed.

i think jobs will use the same weapon type as class, i.e. can't see dragoon using anything other than a spear, but i think they will have special weapons that can't be equiped by the class, so just for an example dragoon might get access to a holy lance, it would still be a pole arm but the class can't use it (that was an example i'm not expecting the holy spear)

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
