Boreas made from a unicorn?

Looking at the mount guide, I noticed Boreas was made from a unicorn. I found it odd for two reasons:

1. All other primal ponies were made from a nightmare.

2. No horn.

It could just be that Boreas was done differently than the others, but I though I'd ask.

Good spot. According to the Nightmare mount description, they were gifted to the beast tribes by the Ascians. Since shiva doesn't have anything to do with the Ascians I'm assuming one of her followers just did some conjurer quests instead.

All other primal horses, as you mention, are made from a Nightmare, but if you notice the Nightmare also has a horn, something which all primal ponies lack. I theorize part of the process of creating the primal steed has to do with the rending of the horn.

As for Shiva's steed, it is very much meant to be a different creation mythos than the rest. Shiva herself is the first time we encounter a human that plays host to the abilities of a primal, something we didn't even think possible in that part of the story. I think the fact that her steed is made from a unicorn is meant to further solidify the differences between Shiva and the other primals.

But that's just a theory. A Final Fantasy theory.

I was actually under the impression that Nightmares were made from Unicorns by the Ascians, though since I don't see it in the mount description I may be mistaken on that.

Unicorns are native to Coerthas, though, so it makes sense for Shiva to use a unicorn rather than a Nightmare, seeing as she isn't related to any beast tribe.
