I know the proposed take on the Beastmaster Class is not in-line with a lot of previous FF portrayals of the class, but as others have said, many of the Jobs aren't like that currently in FFXIV due to the Role System. Another pet job wouldn't bring anything new or interesting to the table. Transformations, however, are something new, especially if the weapon is what determines the form, because it adds quite a bit of selection and customization through glamours.

A new spin on an old class, in short. Granted I'm pretty sure this isn't coming in 4.0, but I don't think I'd mind seeing it in the future either. Transformation seems to be the only untapped job design mechanic SE hasn't incorporated yet.
