I prefer starting closer to cap as it allows me to jump to the most recent endgame as soon as possible. Whether I learn my skills or not is not a result of the job level being closer to cap, but a result of my lack of understanding of said skills, combos and rotations. It's a common misconception that the issue with RDM being 50 is that people don't have enough time to learn their skills, that's incorrect.

Oh, the other thing I dont get is they are so gung-ho to bring out a jump potion. Why not just make people pay to jump to max level and give the rest of us who want the opportunity to start at level 1 the option.
Then there is atleast options available for both types.

(and yes, Im already aware the stingy folks will cry foul at my comment... thing is I don't really care, the point is, there would an option.)

I think they all should start at minimum level 30, even the starter jobs. Leveling at this point is a waste of time. If someone is not going to take the time to read tool tips then, they never will.

A slow grind from level 1 will never teach people their jobs better than starting them at 30 or even 50. If they aren't willing to learn the basics when they only have 5 skills, they won't when they have 1 either. Plus this would encourage people to explore more jobs. Sure that first job is quick and easy but dang the rest are frustratingly slow.

Also starting at lvl 30 is an easy way for them to get rid of classes like they want to as well.

I would like it if it started at lvl 1. And also available to new players day 1 and not locked behind expansions.

I wouldn't mind an option to start at lvl 1. I'm just crazy like that, though, I wouldn't want it to be mandatory for everyone. X)

However, I think that SE wants to make it reasonable for players to play through the Stormblood story on the new jobs without having a huge grind to reach the starting level.

There's always Palace of the Dead and queuing for low level dungeons and Guildhests for those that enjoy getting used to their abilities slowly.
This. I don't really want to have to choose between levelling a new job or the MSQ come 4.0. I mean yeah, there will be a little grinding even if the new jobs start at 50, but won't be as bad as starting from 1.

The only difference now, is they'll be starting at 50 and have even more actions....

And its not just idiots actually, it takes time to learn how to pair actions together in a more productive way. Practice makes perfect, and its generally a lot easier to learn something over time if you break it down into chunks and add-on to what you've learned, rather than handing someone a manual and expecting them to know it all off by heart from front to back after one read. That's where levelling comes in. You start out with a few actions and build your knowledge and skill slowly over time. by the time you reach max level, you should have a pretty darn good idea of what your doing.
Unfortunately, those types of people are just as likely to get new abilities and not actually read what they do. They aren't going to be anymore arsed to learn than if you simply give them all their abilities. For those wanting to practice, nothing prevents them from going back into old content.

People forget that it's supposed to be about the journey, not the destination. It's like starting a book at the last 2 chapters, or starting a new movie with 20 mins left... so lame
