Primal weapons *spoilers for Coil and other content*

I just realized that the Phoenix and Odin do not have any primal weapons (aside from a single glamour item for PLD). Nor does the Ultima Weapon, for that matter. Kinda crazy when you consider Nidhogg got weapons and Omega likely will by the end of Stormblood.

Phoenix is a special case, period. It was also not a separate trial.
Weapon drops were always formatted to drop at the last turn of each coil.

Odin isn't a normal Primal, he is an Elder Primal.
Ultima isn't a Primal at all, its a relic Allagan machine.
Nidhogg is a Great Wyrm, not a Primal.

When you consider the ARR time period, we had an abundance of weapons: 7 Primal weapon sets and 3 coil weapon sets.

TLDR: There is no rule where a trial has to provide weapon drops.

There was no dungeon crawl segment in T12, that makes more a trial.
Bahamut and the Warring Triad are also elder primals, and they get weapons too.

That's not how itemisation and rewards work. Phoenix shared a loot table with Bahamut because he was in the same series of content. He wasn't separate content. Weapons drop from content which is itemised to drop weapons as a reward as part of the games reward system. Its not like there is something about Primals that intrinsically tie weapons drops to them.

Because in 2.0, we don't have other way to get extra accessories than trial and COB raid. When 3.0, we can get extra accessories from Normal Alex in every tier, Diadem and even crafted gear still have accessories for every tier better than 2.0.

I have been wanting Odin to drop weapons for other classes/Jobs since we got a trial fight. Even if only for glamour purposes, why my dark Knight can not use a Great Sword variant of Zantetsuken is more than a little lame. Considering how much "work" went into our 2.0 primal Great Swords, i don't think it would have to big a "stretch".

Bahamut is an elder primal, yet he is not a trial. The last turn of each Coil drops weapons. Whether they are primals or not is irrelevant.

Twin is not a primal. 1st coil, last turn, drops weapons.
Nael is not a primal. 2nd coil, last turn, drops weapons.
Phoenix is a primal. Final coil, Turn 3, not the last turn, doesn't drop weapons.
Bahamut is a primal. Final coil, last turn, drops weapons.

Coil requires progression of each turn to get to the final turn and its weapon rewards and completion gives you access to the next raiding tier. This is how it was orginally designed.

Omega will be a Raid not a Trial. How the weapons are obtained is unknown.

I understand what you are asking but imo...

If they are going to use resources to design new weapons, they might as well design an actual new trial with them. Not toss them in older content that is less relevant or in the case of Phoenix, not a trial at all.
