Veteran Rewards: Rank 13+, and genuine player appreciation overall

Currently i have 1200 days subscribed, and am considered Rank 13 (1080 days). Square has always been good about keeping the site updated with new rewards which are coming. The site hasn't been updated in almost 6 months. this is either a sign of no more rewards coming, or unadulterated laziness.

Has Square basically thumbed their collective nose at loyal players in order to fleece gamers of their money for aesthetics? I've been around since the original beta and failure go live. came back for the rebirth, and been here since day 1. Ironically, the moment the virtual goods market went live, i posted about the game shifting from awesome content to mediocre content with awesome virtual goods. I was not only lambasted by the community for "voicing such heresy", but also condemned by the site admins, and my post was deleted. Here we are today facing exactly what i predicted so long ago...

I'm far from getting those rewards but... I don't see why they'd choose to remove these.
These rewards are here to thanks player for playing the game. I agree with the poster, there should keep on with the rewards

That makes no sense. I don't mean what you just said, I mean the reason why SE would not add anymore Veteran Rewards. The sole purpose of these has always been to reward subscription time.

If they really wanna stop doing that because new players (or regular returning players with a short total subscription time) complain they will never be able to obtain these items in game, then SE could just progressively add them at a very high price in the Cash-Shop, while still adding new veteran rewards for free to their loyal customers.

The only logical reason I could understand for them to stop adding veteran rewards is that there is only a very restricted part of the player base that subscribes as long as its required to obtain the long veteran rewards, and that it's not worth creating more for so few players.

You're probably right here. There're probably less of us than there are the 1% that do endgame raids.

That's a matter of perspective. EQ stopped new veteran rewards after the ... 14? 15? YEAR mark. Times have changed, people don't play the same game for years on end anymore. However, that should put some perspective into the notion that a mere 3 years is too long to subscribe to a game.

They really should continue on with providing new veteran rewards, as long as there are people eligible to recieve them. An in-game "thank you for staying subscribed this long" never hurt anyone.

Personally, veteran rewards are great but locking that sort of stuff behind years of time is too much nowadays. You can compare EQ all you want, but I'm going to assume people playing EQ are a different sort of player than someone just starting FFXIV. I'd be perfectly happy with a kickback Fantasia and a couple stacks of unique fireworks every year or so.

Good idea but I don't think they should even consider that, I think it's pretty neat to have most of these items behind sub time, it's a great big thank you from Square Enix for supporting the game as you said. Most of these people who beg for glamour stuff end up wearing their items for 5 minutes anyway.

I heard talk about a token system. Each rank = x amount of tokens. Tokens can be exchanged for which ever reward you would like, so you don't need to sub for 3 years to get the Zidane outfit for example.

But I doubt a good system like this will be made, so its probably the last one.
