    Beginner help and feedback

I just stated playing FF14 again. Got bored of it at the release and after all the changes that has happened i thought I give another go.

    1. Is there someway to scale the UI? I play with a controller on my TV and its to far away for the interface at 1080p. The game is designed with a controller and PS3 in mind so there should be someway to enlarge the UI.

    2. V-sync, how can I turn it on? I have serious issues with screen tearing. I try to force it with ATIs Catalyst Control Center but it doesnt seem to work. Weird that its not under graphics options.

    3. Is there a good way/macro to equip weapons and gear without having to do i manually?

    4. Is there someway to remove you own name from over your head without removing all names?

    1. Currently the only way to move around/scale UI widgets is with the mouse. Make sure the UI lock is turned off. It's the little padlock icon in the micro-menu. Also you can change the windowed mode resolution which should make the UI bigger on your screen. As a person who plays on a 50' TV, I use 1280x720 screen size which is the same as my screen resolution. Yea you sacrifice space on your screen to make the UI bigger, but it's the only way I can read the text sitting far away.

    2. Not sure about this one as I've only ever used nvidia gpu. I would suggest making sure your video card meets the recommended specs for this game and make sure the graphic drivers are up to date.

    3. These macros will let you equip gear:

    /equip head "item name"
    /equip body "item name"
    /equip hands "item name"
    /equip waist "item name"
    /equip legs "item name"
    /equip feet "item name"

    for weapons:

    /equip mh "item name"
    /equip oh "item name"

mh being Main-hand and oh being off-hand

also for arrows and/or fishing bait and I think throwing weapons go here too:

    /equip pack "item name"

There's macros for accessories too but I can't remember exactly how they go atm.

Can go here for any other macros or /commands you want to know.

    4. This one you can't do currently, you either turn them all on or off, can't just hide your own. People have requested this though so it's probably in the works.

I'll fill in what I know that wasn't already pointed out:

    3. Regarding accessories in equipment macros, the basic format is

    /equip [slot name] "[item name]
    ...

where the slot names are L.ear, R.ear, L.ring, R.ring, L.index, R.index, and neck. I think I have the ear and neck slots correct, but I'm sure about the rings. Also note that you do not need the trailing quotation mark and that macros are strictly case-sensitive, e.g.

    /equip L.ring "Dated Pearl Ring+1

    will work, but

    /Equip L.Ring "dated pearl ring+1

    will not.

    4. This feature has indeed been requested. I'm sure it will be an option in 2.0, but given the other changes to the UI it may be possible to implement this in the current system. From what I've read the UI and Server subsystems are particularly poorly implemented and thus difficult to modify without creating bugs. In addition, a large chunk of the programming staff is currently focused on coding the new subsystems for 2.0, so smaller changes to the current core system may be a lower priority.

There! I found the thread for this!

Thanks alot to the both of you. Im really liking this game and im starting to get used to its "flaws". I have great hopes for future updates.

I dont want to change from my native resolution of 1080p its will look blurry on my TV. Maybe they will apply a proper UI scaler in 2.0 like the one you get in Wow and other MMOs. Where you just use a slider and it enlarges the entire UI.

Last I heard the new UI was going to be flash-based, so it should scale I think.

The only thing you can enlarge at the moment is text size. configuration > log settings > font size.

The Lodestone has the rest of the text commands that aren't listed here, they are on the left under text commands and macros.
