He said the team hadn't thought about adding it, at that time.
Do I think that it's going to be the second job in 4.0? Probably not.
That doesn't mean it can't be on the table for other expansions.
And even if it isn't, that doesn't mean people can't brainstorm about how it could fit in the game.
All right then, I suppose I can contribute that much. I'd much rather they moved away from the hideous Mammet Automaton designs from XI (and already found lingering about in this game) to something that can be taken more seriously, like some freaky mannequins or dolls. Additionally, I'd say they would be best served by dramatically reducing if not eliminating the damage output of the player, and shift instead to being primarily about remotely controlling the puppet. He said the team hadn't thought about adding it, at that time.

This game comes to mind whenever anyone suggests PUP make a return, because the last thing I'd want would be another job with an extremely passive pet.
Ya Yoshi-P didn't flat out say no like Mimilu said, it just wasn't something even on his mind. I still believe that it is a job that will be added without a doubt in 5.0 or 6.0 when we visit the Garlean empire. It makes the most sense lore wise even if the developers don't see that just yet. The game developers also tend to add jobs that the player base really want to see and Puppetmaster, I believe, is listed as #8 in most desired classes in a FF14 Reddit pole right under Time Mage. Under the circumstance that they keep adding the jobs we want and add around 2-3 jobs per expansion, we'll see Puppetmaster in 6.0.

And yet that poll is sort of worthless because of how many fake options there are, like Time Mage, Thief, Ranger, and Berserker.http://www.strawpoll.me/4507557/r

I wouldn't necessarily call it worthless or fake options. The pole was a pretty good reflection of player sentiment, and the job options were an inclusion of the majority of classes in the Final Fantasy series including Tactics. Time Mage especially is a strong candidate for a new mage class in the future. Some of its utility does overlap with astrologian, but things like Haste, Stop, Slow, are all things that have yet to be implemented into a job, but are spells that should be in the game or are already.

Celestial Opposition = Stop (or as close as it'd get in this game)
Time Dilation = Extend
When you really think about it, Astrologian is simply Time Mage as recognized from past games applied in a more practical manner to a game in which jobs identified for just buffing or would otherwise be considered a "support" role wouldn't really work.
