Chocobo races to high level aetherial gates sounds kinda fun. Grab a host together (at least two parties) and everyone who tags the gate, wins! Do this until all aetherial gates in the world have been tagged. It will slowly go toward your achievement count as well while allowing you to teleport to these locations in the future... unless there are no plans for them until 2.0, in which case, they would probably be reset and destroyed anyway...

Monsters will likely blow fire, throw a ton of poo (a literal 2000 pound pack of poo that does just as much damage, thank you lindwurm in Gridania, I HATE JOO!!!), gored by tusks, crushed by ogres, and all other fun sorts of mayhem.

Getting achievements that do absolutely nothing. That has to be worth paying for??

when it comes down to pounding out achievements in an MMO....that says something. lack of long lasting content thats not there because of some BS reason ::cough:: Ifrit fight drops ::cough:: would be nice to see. Also the fact that you kill half the reason for doing some of the content, by adding into materia gear which for the most part trumps dungeon/NM gear makes it even less appealing to do.

Devs do need to release more content faster without negating old stuff, especially if the game is going to be P2P, using the reasoning stop only playing XIV does not really fly once we start paying for it.

Game needs at least 5 fold the valid content at endgame as well as multiple more dungeons and world events for 1-49, it is all coming but in small batches. Honestly Endgame I see as the major issue atm, there is not enough valid endgame to keep people amused more then 3-4 weeks and the current patch schedule is every 8-10 weeks.

Even if they make the journey enjoyable if the destination sucks no one will stay. Which is where a mmo will make all its money.

More or less they need to get enough content into the game where someone who plays 30+hrs a week will not get bored and be forced to log off.

Personally the content in the game does not bore me, Leves are as exciting as meaningless mainstream mmo quest (kill x of these or gather X of these) and instances are fun the first 2 times through then they are boring too and grindish... What bothers me and is making my ls members take "Breaks" is they just need alot more of all the content they have atm. Game content wise is about 20% complete atm regardless of what the devs say.

Yeah IMO the game should have all current content plus at least 20 dungeons from lvl 10 entry-50. A plethora of quests all advancing the story. Despite all that will be added from now until 2.0, the game will still lack content IMO not to mention the slow pace at which the content will be added.

And this problem is precisely why I am a stalwart advocate of sandbox MMORPGs.

If you want an example of a true sandbox MMORPG, look no further than Star Wars Galaxies. The entire world is at your command - you have the ability to build entire cities, tailor your own clothes to your tastes, even customize your weapons during the fabrication process, on top of that, there are various features such as the ability to create your own storytelling NPCs (aka, programmable NPCs that you can use to host an event), along with the feature that lets you set up props outside on the planet's surface. So you could have your own personal YT-2400 (not boardable, sadly) parked outside your house in the Tatooine desert.

Edit: Oh, and you could decorate your houses in ANY way you wanted with ANY object in your inventory - clothes, weapons, furniture, quest rewards, etc. - all this complete with X,Y,Z axis movement and rotation commands.

Edit2: You could even program your own pets, such as droids, to do what you wanted them to do. Patrol, be a town crier for your store located outside Mos Eisley Spaceport, or simply do tricks. Same goes for biological pets, too.

THIS is the kind of MMORPG that has been in decline since World of Warcraft came out, and I am sad.

True sandbox MMOs let you have a high degree of command and control over your assets within the game world, and that allows you to truly formulate an identity of your own making within the universe. That was one of the most unique aspects of SWG, and had me playing for more than three years, until the NGE destroyed it.

(SoE also messed up SWG with the NGE, which didn't help the case for those advocating sandbox MMOs)

It also doesn't help that Star Wars Galaxies is being shut down this December, and the Emulator version does not support the current client and doesn't support player-programmable NPCs. Or a majority of the new features that had been added after the NGE, either.

That said, the entire XIV development team really should check out Star Wars Galaxies and explore its myriad features before the shutdown.

People are so bored they can't get creative... wow.

Gather a few players and play hide and seek (/names off, a piece of paper to hide your mini-map).
Emote wars (don't use a single word, only non-custom emotes, for X minutes. Try to have the most coherent conversation with someone).

    etc. etc. etc.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
    (Marvelous economics IQ test!)

ugg, most of us aren't 3years old. these are things my first linkshell did in ffxi, i left them lol. progresion, content, good convo on linkshell while still staying the path of speed and accuracy ...all good. i can't be imaginitive with my mmo's i can do that outside of the electronic world with real people if anything. it's not what i pay for this game is not aol chat. once you run out of stuff to do then ...there is just nothing to do.

i dinged my last 50 yesterday /cheer, pretty much ready to put this game to the side lines and play others till 2.0 ..i'll come back to try the new dungeons and avatar fights but that bout it. not paying se for there mistakes and audacity because they realize people are still willing to pay for develepment. lets pray all the mmo companies don't realize they can get away with this and follow suit. even offline games ..if everyone follows suit with lol bethsda(love there games though) and all there games coming out half broken and buggy, the gaming world will be a sad site. .

tl,dr, i'm pulling for 2.0 but i'm pulling my wallet till then. my train rides don't take me to the neighborhood of make believe no more. least not on my dime and time.

also on paying half price, it's cool if your not planning on paying for the full year or 2years the way they keep delaying patches. a mini expansion in ffxi had more content to do then what we will get per patch every few months and guess what it was only 10bucks.
