I'm not sure that the Far Eastern dress and the jump potions are good analogs to your request regarding the Character Restore policy... Both of these items had already been designed and implemented into the game, it only required a few switches to make the dress available in our version, and will be just as simple when they add the jump potions too.

Asking for character restores to be unlimited would require more dedicated hardware that is not currently implemented. The cost for that hardware would be far higher than it was/will be to simply add something they've already created and designed to a separate version of the game. Hand-holding what few people who repeatedly delete their characters and then regret it (sorta sounds like repeating the same action while expecting a different result, to me) is unlikely to drive the kind of numbers to motivate them to make such a large investment. On top of that; whatever emotional reasoning people would have for deleting their character would become utterly pointless with such a change. You wouldn't be really deleting anything, you'd just be 'hiding' the character from the Character Select screen.

The jump potions don't rationalize investing in additional hardware to change the restore policy. Without the jump potions, the "repeat-deleters" that would come back if they could have their characters back, only for the data to be lost before they changed their mind, would not have returned anyway. The jump potions at least gives them an option, some of which will inevitably take the option, leading some to return to Eorzea where otherwise they would have not.
