Red Mage is Range Combat? (Discussion)

How do you think this style may play out for Red Mage? So far the short trailer showed some skills being most of Red Mage attacks are focused on the Sword Staff use for long range spells like Black mage and a sword skill being a "charge attack then jump back to position" skill like Dragoon's Jump Skill but with longer animation.

Hmm, now where have I seen a Staff/Sword mage class dealing damage and debuffs .. oh yes, Lord of The Rings Online's Lore-Master, with or without a pet.

I know Red Mage is a staple FF job, I have one in FFXI, but this sounds kind of an unrequired extra DPS caster, to me.

Well look at the bright side, the Staff is the Sword or if you prefer the Sword is the Staff.

Why have two separate weapons and ask "if sword mage or staff mage is better" when you can have both as one.
