To the DEV: New Job Starting Level

    Can someone please translate this.

I understand wanting to get people going at level 50. However there are issues starting out so advanced. It can be hard to figure out how to play the game. If you can build a long introduction quest line that helps to train the player how to use the job it would be good. Thank you.

    Nocturne of the Gods

Kiu mondo estis nomita Vana'diel. Nia mondo, Vana'diel.

I wouldn't think tutorial quests are needed. All we need is to encourage people to READ the bloody TOOLTIPS!

New lv cap is 70. 20 levels is enough to learn if you are moderately bright, add to that a week or so of grinding out endgame gear for raids and what not. It'll be fine.

That's not an issue. If you are really interested in learning the class few skills at a time, it's easy. Just use low level Duties or Guildhests and only the basic skills of the class should be available for use. Then you may try higher level dungeons once you become comfortable with low level skills to start using higher level skills.

You act like anyone is going to know how to play the class day one. since mmos don't teach you about rotations and the like your gonna have to wait a week or do for the math like people on the fourms to make the rotations. Also the class itself starts at level 50 which means your prob gonna need to be lvl 50 on another class to even accept the quest to start this class. so your worry is for not.

ppl worked out the math of nin, before it was even released - so if you were into nin, and curious, you knew the rotation before you even played it.

you can always go to a dummy and practice before you do any duties with it.
you should be able to do well with little knowledge, by just doing normal combos, and weaving in abilities, and try to get off your nukes, while you have your buffs, up; it's the same for every dps job.

or to add to choco, you can do PotD also, where you lv up quickly, and practice the skills while you gain them.
the awesome part about PotD is that you'll be able to learn all your job skills up to lv 70, without doing the job quests, and they will stay on your skill-bar, so you could basically become lv 70 , and have your skill-bar set up in 1-2hrs
so you'll quickly know if the job is even fun to play.

I wished they started at level 30, but if I have to start there, I will just do the lower level dungeons starting from sastasha or PoTD from floor 1 to get a feel for everything. Then move on to training dummies on Stone, Sea, Sky.

Sucks, but not that big of a problem.

Just do what I am going to do, read what the skills do and practice on dummies, when you are good to go, join a dungeon. SE made Red Mage start at level 50, I reckon they know what they are doing. Lets not forget Jump Potion users will start at level 60,

Tooltips will only bring you from "trash" to "mediocre". They're helpful, but not the ultimate cure.

That may be true, but taking time to at least understand what does what, what combos off of what, what's more potent among similar abilites, what procs what, or what modifies/enhances what already puts you well ahead of someone who would simply try to pick it up and just wing it.
