[Zalera] Newbie - Starting for the 1st Time

Hello everyone,

I am completely new to FFXIV. So far I have made it to Lvl 11 and have somewhat gotten used to the controls. I would appreciate any advice/assistance that you can provide me. My class is an Arcanist.

Also, any threads you recommend I check out?

Starting out my advice would be to do the "Hall of the Novice" training by level 15, you get some decent gear as well as a ring that gives +30% exp until level 30. When you make it into your first sets of dungeons at level 15 be sure to use Emerald Carbuncle and not Topaz, the shiny new Topaz Carbuncle has enmity modifiers that might upset your tank (unless your tank is bad or absent, then by all means us it.) and lastly ARC being a DoT class be sure to keep said DoTs up at all times (Bio, Miasma, Bio II).

Turn on legacy controls. Seriously, makes getting out of AoE SOOO much easier.

The game does a pretty good job of carrying you along. You'll be fine. As far as gameplay goes, just read the description of every ability you learn and make sure you understand it. Don't overcomplicate things, and don't be afraid to admit to yourself when you're wrong. That's how you learn and grow. Finally, this is an MMO, so you're probably going to come across impatient and rude people one day; this'll be the hardest thing to deal with by far, but just don't let it get you down. Power through it, and you'll train yourself to eventually deal with it just fine. Though I have to say that kind of bad experience is a ton more uncommon here than in other MMOs.

I appreciate all the advice I've been given so far. I'll keep it at heart as I play through the game. So far, I'm liking the arcanist. I started out with a conjurer and wasn't feeling it. Thank you, everyone! Please feel free to give me more advice to help me out. The game has a pretty straightforward quest system and I've been enjoying going through all the quests as well.
