    RDM Design: Fun Fact

In the late 1900's when dueling began to be frowned upon by the law, schedules to fight started to exclusively occur at night. In order to allow your opponent to see you in low light conditions, the combatants would hold lanterns in their rear hand. This tradition is why modern fencers hold one hand (fabulously) in the air behind them, or across the small of their back. The magicked crystal medium is the tradition-friendly interpretation of the dualist's lantern.

Actually duelling with lanterns dates from as far back as the 16th century (as typically duels were fought with pistols around the turn of the century) but you are absolutely correct, good spot.

I love little attentions to detail like this, it goes to show that research and effort is put into job designs.

You know I was actually wondering why fencers did that. Thanks for the info!

Do or do not, there is no try.
