I wish they all started at level 1, but I understand that isn't the popular opinion.

If you want to start at level 30 to learn the class, you can always do level 30+ content and just stay there. Personaly, I am glad that we start at level 50, this way, I can level to 60 and start the 4.0 MSQ and enjoy the story.
If it were up to me, i'd make every new job start at level 1.
But to plays Devil's Advocate if all jobs have to have job quest starting at 30, this just makes it harder to introduce new jobs in future expansions because it's no longer starting at X level or one before it, it's having to start from 30+, which can be a bit overbearing after a while to have to have a scenario like.I'm mostly just worried about the Stormblood Jobs not getting fully fleshed out questlines if they start at 50 instead of 30...
At the release of Heavensward, every job had quests from 30-60. Some of them felt as though there was an unfortunate disconnect between 30-50 and 50-60, while others fared better and felt more cohesive. And all these jobs questlines will see further developments from 60-70 come Stormblood's release, I imagine.
As it stands however, Stormblood's own new jobs will only have from 50-70, giving them only half as much room for a story as every other job.
2.0
10(Counting NIN for simplicity sake) 30-50.
3.0
10 jobs 50-60
3 jobs 30-60
4.0
13 jobs 60-70
1-3 jobs 30-70?
5.0
14-16 jobs 70-80
1-3 jobs 30-80
6.0
15-19 jobs 80-90
1-3 jobs 30-90
If you notice the pattern, the amount of additional work to add in a new job with each expansion would end up being exponential, so if the idea of starting the job at 50 is to prevent this, then why not? I would rather have new jobs have "less story" then to force them to have a story from 30+ just because every other job starts with a quest from 30+ since overtime the amount of additional work needed to create the new job would continue to grow the longer the game is in production.
Red Mage should start at level 60 and should be available the second the xpac goes live. That way those of us that want to go through the whole with the new job can rather than having to level it THEN go through the new stuff.
Edit: I also think Drk/Mch/Ast should have started at 50 also.
People are saying "we'll miss out on more RDM story!"
Really? They know exactly what they want to tell for the story, and they'll tell it in whatever frame they're given, be it 30-70 or 50-70. 30-70 would probably leave you feeling more or less incomplete after each quest
They could also do a bunch of quests at the beginning to get you familiarized with each of your abilities, it's not the end of the world for them to start at 50, this isn't a big deal.
Just because the job starts at LV50 doesn't mean it's going to get less story, heck from LV30-60 some story CS's are more then just filler anyway so sometimes a shorter and more focused story is a good thing.
I'd rather not do 1-50 content again right when the expansion launches. If the new classes start at 50 I may be tempted to roll one of them on release day since it is only 10 levels to catch up.
That's exactly my feelings. I'd rather get the HW leveling out of the way right off the get-go, anyway, and it's easier to catch up.
