i guess kind of like MCH/BRD when they use their "cast" extension, you cast your spells at range, and then sword skills, since auto attacks are physical, it will be like auto attacking with any caster/healer=rubbish damage.
Also we only saw 5 skills from what i can count, and we'll maybe have something around 30-35 skills (or since they want to reduce skill bloat, maybe still around the 27-30 we have now - so RDM can seamlessly cast spells at range, and do melee combo in melee range.

i think ppl are exaggerating a bit, there was no such problem in HW, because lv cap went up- many ppl will cap their mains before taking up the new jobs, unless they are super hyped and WANT the new jobs as their mains over any other job.
there's nothing forcing you to run PotD, it's just one of the best options (so far) there's roulettes with XP bonus, new beast tribe quests (the HW beast quests give quite a lot of XP, and im sure the new beast quests in SB, will give tonnes, too) MSQ, side quests, FATEs; you can switch it up and do whatever.
