An auction house is an exponentially better market system than the wards. The ward system is fine for the bare minimum of buying and selling items between players, but it lacks the advanced features to make it function the way an MMO market should function. There is no way to differentiate between NQ and HQ items using the ward system. There is no price history to compare sales (getting this in 1.20, last 20 sales.) You have to zone every time you want to buy an item, making it take at least twice as long as buying from a list (another thing we are getting in 1.20.) You have to know the category of the item you want to buy, and even then there is little organization in the way the items are listed. Lastly, off the top of my head, there is no way to search for items by name. Ex: If you want a full set of Steel gear, you have to find each piece manually and track each item separately.

AH to my best understanding can't be made with this current enginge. But from what I understand they have plans to do the following.
-Make the MW easier to search, which to me sounds like the ability to filter out items easier
-At one point they wanna make it where you can buy items right off the list rather then go into the ward

you are assuming an auction house in 14 will be he same as 11, that is the problem

Q: In regards to starting to charge a subscription fee, could you tell us about the reasoning behind starting now?
A: As I mentioned in the previous LIVE, our stance about being 50% complete has not changed. Though we have been able to gradually implement FF-related content, I still think that there is a lot that has not yet been completed, such as a lack of player search and an auction house. With patch 1.20, we will be introducing the player search and auction house, so I made the call as a producer to start billing at this time.

    -Targeting system
    -Friends list
    -black list
    -linkshell system
    -PC Search
    -Char motion
    -AI
    -scenario and quest
    -Delivery service
    -item search feature
    -delivery & mail system
    -parley
-And then the content like moogle fight and what not.

Any other items that I missed? any on this list that are not going to be 1.2 ready?
There are items in this list that are taken from the list of items being implemented in the 2.0 engine at the current time. For instance, we already have Parley.

    http://wdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/dow...Roadmap_EN.pdf

Previous producer letters have already outlined the major items of interest in 1.20, and although they might not seem as extensive as 1.19, they do include so really quite large changes to the market wards and class abilities (which I'm sure you don't need me to tell you about). Oh, and the continued ending of the Sixth Astral Era.

Edit: I realise I sounded a bit condescending there. Sorry about that, it wasn't intentional. I just wanted to make sure the topic didn't give a false impression of what is coming in the immediate future.

This reminds me of a thread...

We already have a friend and black list. They're pretty functional.

    Class reforms
    PC search
    MW/AH hybrid
    Moogle fight
    /shutdown
    Dyeing reforms
Additional recipes+revamp for Culinarian, Goldsmith, and Alchemist
    Combo system
    Toggle on/off for action queueing

I took my list directly from the time line in the 2.0 announcement. THe blue bars spanning september to december. Of course there is no details on each and just because it says "Parley" or "Friends list" does not mean we are getting it (at least I think) it means they are improving it. Maybe I am reading the Time line wrong but I don't think so. These items have a bar ending up to december...

Those blue bars relate mostly to internal development of those features, as far as I'm aware.

Which makes perfect sense, so if the internal devolopment of them ends at the same time the 1.2 is to be released, my common sense says that's what should be in the patch(bar any delays) i can't see them holding that until 2 months later for 1.21
