If it would even be a tank at all, could be a DPS. Then again in XI, SAMs had the ability to greatly increase their evasion and had the highest parry skill in the game. This could be the style they would have if tank here, Third Eye being the tank stance.Ugh... I really, really don't want Samurai. I just don't see how it will add anything unique or different to the game. A sword-wielding tank. Woohoo.
There were so many other options for a UNIQUE class. Think of a beast master tank, where the pet is the tank (like a glorified titan Egi that works), blue mage has to be hit by abilities to learn them hence fitting a tank role, a dancer that uses tp to heal instead of mp, etc...
I just don't see how Samurai can add anything new tactics wise at all. Dark Knight uses MP and that was the major thing there. Samurai will use a sword and TP like two of the tanks we already have. Boring.

I doubt they'd release two dps classes for the sake of queues, so I'm definitely inclined to say it would be a tank. Parry/Evasion doesn't really sound like an interesting 'feature' to me, as parry is pretty irrelevant in game anyway. It'd be similar to adding a water mage that uses water magic in a game where there are no elemental resistances.

Who's to say it's even going to be a tank? I recall an interview where Yoshi-P said he'd like to see SAM as a DPS job. Two new DPS jobs for this expansion will not break the game as many people think it will. So, the roulettes will be a bit slow for a little while, but alot of people will go back to their mains after leveling them or at least checking them out.Ugh... I really, really don't want Samurai. I just don't see how it will add anything unique or different to the game. A sword-wielding tank. Woohoo.

there is not much problem if they add both DPS in middle expansion where ppl are already max leveland they dont have much to do, but ninja was release and we all know what happen.
now think in a expansion from the start, with 2 new DPS, not only normal DPS, 2 extremly popular DPS, this go to make a lot of ppl from all roles go to taste the new jobs, of course some go to level they mains first and others like me for example when 3.0 comes i take the DRK from the begining to the end.
this means less TANK and HEALERS by default with means queues with a lot of more waiting time in new dungeons and primals affecting the progress of a lot of players.
its dont go to be the end of the world but go to be a shot on the feet for the start of stormblood until the we recover (or not) minimun the actual number of tank and healers, and can be months.

Just because you lack the creativity to envision unique mechanics/abilities for it doesn't mean it's not possible.
Also, beastmaster tank where the pet is the tank is an impossibility and will never happen.

Because unlike you simply stating that SAM is "boring" there's actually knowable issues with creating Beastmaster as a tank, particularly one where the pet does the tanking.
It's not that it can't be done, it's that it has far too many issues that will make it entirely too difficult to create and balance and so it won't be done. There's a difference and if you can't see it than that's on you.
Beastmaster could work as a tank, but absolutely not as one where the pet actively does the tanking unless it's in an abstract way as in damage the BST takes is redirected to the pet's HP pool, in which case the pet is technically tanking the damage. Even that concept however comes with some huge potential issues that can be entirely game breaking. I guarantee you I can shred whatever ideas you could put forward to have a beastmaster where the pet actively tanks.

Not a contradiction which I've explained, but okay, we're done here.
