It was either the dev panel, or an interview, where they asked about her. (I'm pretty sure it was off limits during the Q&A, but it could have been said there.) Around the time of the Vegas fanfest, and it was one of those "oh yeah... she's a monk too" type statements. It felt very dismissive and flippant though, (could have been poorly translated) which I think is what caused people not to believe it.

The "quote" (and I use that term very loosely), was Yoshida talking about the fighting in the trailer. And was most likely translated poorly as "the two monks fighting" when he could have only been referring to the one.

Either way, it's still a CGI trailer. And the weapon is probably unique to the main NPC.

One Hand Gauntlet Knife

Slight problem here. MNK's have several weapons that fit this mold including the spring action blade on drawing. Now we can take two things from this. Either she is using a custom NPC weapon much like Thancred has unmatching knives, or all bladed fist weapons migrate to DNC. The latter would technically be borderline impossible due to the Kaiser Knuckles being a claw weapon. PGL's are also described to use both Cestus style and claw style fist weapons.


I have to ask though, do you really want DNC so badly that you're okay with it being a clone of MNK? I have to stress as a practicioner of Baguazhang that her "dance" is honestly just a Piquaquan form with more sharpness than normally shown. In fact After watching it the second time I firmly believe they were emphasizing the classic duality of Chinese martial arts; Soft and Hard. Even more so that she was representing Piguaquan(soft) and he Bajiquan(hard); two styles born of one original style.

But as far as Spider-Man representing DNC I have no grounds to argue, only that I lean more towards BLU, BST, or something new. I only hope that if it is DNC it has more identity than "more flowy monk". I personally would vote more towards a caster-type that equips whips or fans and has short dances for its cast time and attack animation.
