I doubt it would be Raubahn. If anything Raubahn would be BLU and not RDM.
He fought a lot like a BLU during the scene that you mentioned. One of the abilities that he used was actually a lot like Ifrit's Radiant Plume (Which places red circles in the outer part of the arena and then the inner part).

Also (I know a lot of people hate it when XI is brought up but..) there was an NPC in XI named Raubahn who was a blue mage. I know the games aren't related at all but I thought it was a nice reference and perhaps it meant something.

Oh nice I like that too, would also fit nicely because Raubhan seems more of a tank type, also known as a bull (another animal) and has made a sound that doesn't even sound human. Pretty sure the armor or something like it is in game and is for tanks too. Blue really makes sense to be that sort, unless they just change how it works a bit (entirely possible). I mean it doesn't HAVE to be tank, but at least most easy fit seems tank.

I do like the mention from FFXI though, I know people aren't a fan of FFXI sometimes because of whatever reason but a lot of same members on the team from that game and reasons why they like and fit particular names together. SE loves to carry things through to other games. So if you find a reference its high chance to be done again later haha.

Anyway, love my leaders and hope Raubahn gets more treatment lol. Watched the cutscene with him fighting and was like YES, MORE! Such a boss. XD.

I apologize if this has already been reposted, I'm trying to catch up on this big thread - but your keen reference made me go look deeper (can't believe I didn't notice since I loved my BLU in FFXI lol)

Tizona is a blue mage exclusive weapon (in FFXI), a weapon he uses in the fight we were just talking about. The group lead by XI Raubhan was Immortal Lions, and in FFXIV by the same name it's Immortal Flames lol. As well, both have similar duties of being an elite group that guards the city and serving the empress.

Of course as you already mentioned he uses a bunch of abilities from Ifrit and that one bull attack (FFXI's limit break is The Beast Within if that means anything). He's made an inhumane roar before (could just be "epic" roar, but I thought it different enough). Being able to learn from your enemy and use monstrous (literally) attacks would make you an excellent gladiator for sure (not gladiator the class, but the activity in which FFXIV's Raubahn gained great wealth). He wields a scimitar like weapon which we'd be used to seeing in FFXI, even more so dual wielding before he became all right. He's massively scarred, good sign of someone who takes a lot of beatings and as a Blue Mage that can be your knowledge and life blood of your power.

He has quote, that I've narrowed to ". . . The battlefield is the best and worst of places. Where else can a man's enemy become his mentor, . . .". That's some blue mage logic right there! (Could be applied by other classes of course, but that is extremely befitting of a blue mage).

Finally, he's from Ala Mhigo - he's from the east.

So your reference isn't just a name, it screams parallel xD. Now I'm set on Raubahn being an NPC Blue Mage (NPC meaning they always get haxxed versions of abilities, and illegal items).

Yoshida, please don't turn Blue Mage into some side game - let Raubahn be my mentor .
