They aren't ever going to do branching jobs, that's been 100% confirmed. It isn't speculation. With the nightmare of balancing issues around SCH and SMN, the devs have said "NEVER AGAIN."

The only "revamp" is how the cross class skills are accessible. Instead of each job only have 2 sub classes to pull cross-skills from, it's going to be by role. Example: A Dragoon can only pull from PUG and WAR. In the new system, they'll be able to pull from other relevant dps jobs. Like say Rogue, since nothing can at the moment, therefor they would be able to theoretically cross class Goad.

now think in a expansion from the start, with 2 new DPS, not only normal DPS, 2 extremly popular DPS, this go to make a lot of ppl from all roles go to taste the new jobs, of course some go to level they mains first and others like me for example when 3.0 comes i take the DRK from the begining to the end.
this means less TANK and HEALERS by default with means queues with a lot of more waiting time in new dungeons and primals affecting the progress of a lot of players.

its dont go to be the end of the world but go to be a shot on the feet for the start of stormblood until the we recover (or not) minimun the actual number of tank and healers, and can be months.
At Heavensward's launch, DRK was the most popular job being played, so much so that Tank queue times were extremely long, and they started at level 30. It was like that for about a month. Progressing was difficult but not impossible. People will play the new shiny job, get bored of it or quickly max their levels. Then they will return to their main jobs. It will not be the end of the world or 'a shot in the feet.'
