Personally I'd like that. I'd just hope the morphing is a bit like a stance; active until turned off. A cooldown morph would be lame unless it was some kind of improved version.Obviously I'm no DEV, but if it were me, I would make it a pet class with a few different like the other pet classes. I would make BLU a tank or dps, whip, and force the lore as to be like some real martial traditions where they take the forms of beasts in their fighting styles to account for non-pet skills (a la Ruin), saying they learn to fight like the beasts that they spend so much time with. Make his Lv-50 skill merge with his pets for 10 secs or so, each one offering different bonuses, more agro, higher crit, and so on.
That would take a popular job that would be otherwise to unfocused for FFXIV (Blue Mage), and add some bits and pieces from another lesser but still popular job that is also to nitch (Beastmanster), and an even lesser job that would have no prayer of getting in (Morpher).
3 nitch classes into a solid fun job. I see the same thing happening for things in the future like Geomancer or Sage for example. They already did it with Bard (Ranger+Bard), Ninja (Ninja+Thief+Assassin) and Astrologian (Time Mage+Trickster), and from the looks of it Red Mage (Red Mage+Rune Fencer) as well.
