Exactly, though I will play devil's advocate say we already have some precedent of wasting the potential of Bard by mixing it with Ranger.Because it would be a colossal waste to take two jobs that have not only iconic appearances but also drastically different and unique playstyles and mash then into a single job. They want to stretch out their iconic Final fantasy jobs for options for future expansions and selling points. They should only he mixing/combining jobs for ones that don't have a solid identity or can't stand on their own.
Samurai and Blue Mage are not those kinds of jobs that would need it.
Not that I necessarily dislike the end result, I'm just thinking about what could have been.
