More likely its the fact that Spiderman is one of the few Western Comicbook Characters to have ever been stylized as a Samurai. Makes more sense than Sam Raimi.
But the question is - when? This design is being applied to an NPC perceived as a nemesis. From a lore standpoint it could be sensible to leave SAM in that representation and unavailable to players until the MSQ gets us closer to that NPC's point of origin. It could clue SAM as coming, but it could be at a later time.
...as an aside, he looks quite similar to Odin.

Think I'll just reiterate my opinion, cause I feel I didn't defend it properly before.
I believe the Spiderman shirt logically indicates Blue Mage, or some form of Blue Mage incorporating Beastmaster and/or Morpher elements to it. I also believe Samurai will be added in this expansion. RDM/BLU/SAM feels like the appropriate trio for us this round. DNC wouldn't have been out of place, but I'm guessing SE will be holding it back for a future expansion, perhaps 5.0. Anyways, those are just my predictions.
See that's what I'm starting to wonder about as well. It's not if we are getting SAM, we are, it's when.
So far the only kind of person I think could train us would be a Doman, a war vet perhaps, but thus far none of the Doman's that managed to flee to Eorzea were of that occupation. Yoshi said the jobs revealed would be jobs available to us from the get go of the expansion, so I'm thinking they would come from people we already know or those who can readily get in contact with us.
So in the coming lead up can we expect to meet anymore characters that would be a mentor, or would it be that we meet someone during the 4.0's campaign. Doman refugees or a resistance cell who wound up in Ala Mhigo, or maybe someone who traveled there and made themselves home.

One thing to remember is that the Ninja trainer(s) didn't come with the Domans of the MSQ, so IF the Samurai is Doman(s) they could simply be others who have come here on their own. Could even actually be a Ronin on their own.See that's what I'm starting to wonder about as well. It's not if we are getting SAM, we are, it's when.

Well shit, this I did not know. Longest time I thought Yugiri was the trainer, lol. Well, totally feasible then. Though weird to have him exist out of the blue. I get Shinobi keeping out of sight, a wandering samurai would be more obvious maybe? We'll definitely see then.

The Doman Ninjas came to Eorzea because one of their own betrayed them, killing both his/the trainer's former master, and joined the Garleans, also training some of them in Ninja techniques. At the end however its revealed that said master actually faked his death and had ALSO gone traitor to the Garleans, as well that our first guy was having doubts about the whole thing.
50-60, btw, also involves a Doman princess trying to regain some stolen family artifacts. While many Domans came to Eorzea as refugees others are still trying in Doma...just not in the now destroyed city-state.
You're actually incorrect, oboro's ninja village isn't specifically in doma, just the outer regions and we're allied with doma. And the princess is also not from doma, but from a royal family once again around the same region but not specifically the nation of doma.Well some spoilers for the Ninjas

Yeah, that was my point. Providing 5.0 is going to the Garlean country which all signs seem to point towards. Would also make sense to be a melee DPS (even more reason SAM should be tank!). The job name though? Idk, they could make it an existing job in the ff universe or make an original job. I've heard some people mention Judge or Judge Master? I've read some into it, they've never seemed to be a playable job so I'm not sure.

I can't see us invading Garlemald in 5.0. I can't even see it in 6.0.
For starters in one of the live letters they stated the first three expansions are telling the story about the rebuilding of the Eorzean Alliance.
3.0 was for Ishgard.
4.0 is for Ala Mhigo.
5.0 is the last chapter of that story, and while there is a lot of speculation, the two most likely places would either be Othard, or Sharlayan. The Sharlayan homeland is located on an archipelago of islands north of Eorzea, so it could be feasible we're going there to give us a break in the war story with Garlemald before we head into Othard. I imagine we'll be retaking Othard before launching a counter-invasion into the heart of Garlemald, meaning an Othard expansion could be 7.0. There are also other places to go between now and then so we don't burn out on the war with the Garleans story.
