Spider man does have his trade mark spider sense to let him dodge incoming attacks... Perhaps it's a throwback to FFXI's Samurai skill combo Seigan + Third eye?

Perhaps Samurai is actually a Garlean based job that made full use of Pureboold third eye mutation giving them increased spatial recognition.

Spatial reasoning is a category of reasoning skills that refers to the capacity to think about objects in three dimensions and to draw conclusions about those objects from limited information. Someone with good spatial abilities might also be good at thinking about how an object will look when rotated.

    (FFXI Samurai skill discriptoin)
Seigan (正眼) (Lit: Angle of the eyes) is a basic defensive stance. Specifically it is the preparation for an enemy's attack by aiming your sword at their eyes. This stance is also done with the left foot back and the right foot forward, giving the defender a much better ability to step backwards while limiting their ability to attack. It is common to assume this stance immediately after drawing

Third Eye Anticipates and dodges the next attack directed at you.

Seigan effect on: When active, user will anticipate and evade the next physical attack against them.

(what follows is a break down of skill usage in FFXI)
Third Eye receives various enhancements if Seigan is active (see below).
Will not negate any magical attacks or spells (single target or area effect), but the effect will remain after being struck by one.
Unlike "shadow" effects such as Utsusemi or Blink, Third Eye can anticipate and negate most multi-hit physical attacks entirely, regardless of how many hits the attack consists of. For instance, it is capable of fully negating damage from a foe's 8-hit Asuran Fists. (Shadow effects' ability to fully absorb multi-hit attacks depends on how many shadows remain.)
However, if the user of Third Eye is struck by a physical attack that is AoE in any way (conal or radial), it will remove the Third Eye effect, and the user will not avoid any damage.

Wearing the Saotome Haidate allows the Third Eye user a 25% chance to counter an attack instead of simply anticipating it. It must be worn at the time of the attack, rather than the time Third Eye is used. Because of this, if you have the Saotome Haidate, macroing it into your Seigan macro is a generally good idea, macroing back in your normal pants for your Hasso macro.
Does not stack with Utsusemi or Blink (Utsusemi will overwrite Third Eye, but Third Eye will not overwrite Utsusemi).
Third Eye recast can be reduced with Merit Points by 2 seconds per level, down to a minimum of 50 seconds.
    Effect with Seigan On

Note that a two-handed weapon must be kept equipped for Seigan to function.
The recast time for Third Eye will be halved. Seigan must be active prior to using the ability for the recast to be halved.
Note that the recast is halved, not simply reduced by 30 seconds. If you have merited Third Eye recast down to 50 seconds, having Seigan active will make it 25 seconds, not 20 seconds.
There is a chance for Third Eye to remain active even after anticipating an attack. In addition, there is a chance for you to counter an anticipated attack. Seigan must be kept active in order to possibly receive these benefits; it is not enough to merely use Third Eye while Seigan is active.

The chance that the player will keep the Third Eye effect even after anticipating tends to gradually decrease from the time that Third Eye is used. 5-6 anticipations is generally regarded to be a good/lucky streak, but note that it is always possible to get only one anticipation even if attacked immediately after using Third Eye.
Counter rate with Seigan active is around 15%.
When an attack is countered, the chance for Third Eye to remain seems to be lower than if the attack were simply anticipated.
If a multi-hit attack is anticipated, Third Eye may still remain in effect, but the chance seems to be reduced. It may be that each hit in the attack has a chance to remove Third Eye.
The damage from the Counter is also considered Blunt damage.

In the interview he said that the new class is a "spider webber", so I think the new job might use strings. Puppeteer comes to mind, but then again Samurai/Blue Mage and Dancer have been more popular and he said he doesn't want another pet class for a while (?). Apart from that, I only know assassin type classes who use strings as weapons, but we already have ninja. I think Blue Mage/Beastmaster/Samurai are possible, but I don't really see the connection, since all of his shirts have been kind of "in your face" hints so far that have been obvious. Or maybe they will do a new job or one that no one thought about?

    Yes?

All of this T-shirts have been incredibly blunt so far (example: Scarlet witch), this is the first one where people are really unsure. I just thought I would go with the most obvious (for me): Spider man- spider webs- strings.

If that sounds weird or like I'm taking his joking around too seriously, then remember I'm just having fun speculating.

You also have to look at the shirt he wears in context of what is said when he wears it. I'm pretty sure I read a translation where he said, "I like red, but also blue." All while wearing a Spider-Man shirt. And if you put that together, with the origin story of the superhero in question, BLU is very obvious and blunt. Bit by a spider and gained it's powers.

That being said, RDM is a whole new thing for FFXIV. Who says they can't combine traditional BLU with something borrowed and something new? Maybe it will combine the powers of BST and BLU. Maybe this BLU will trap monsters to learn their powers.

Reading some of the stuff you guys posted here, Blue Mage does make sense to me. I mean, there are certainly things that speak for Blue Mage. My only concern would be that they already added Red Mage and having two mages/ranged dps in one expansion seems like overkill to me. They could make Blue Mage a tank, healer or even ranged dps of course, but I'm not sure if fans of Blue Mage would want that.

Also, do you guys think they will only add two new jobs or 3? I would love to get 3, but most signs seem to point to 2 new jobs.

And lastly, this is really random, but has anyone seen the screenshots and artwork for Stormblood? I was really surprised to see artwork for what I consider to be the new AF gear.

There is an ingame screenshot of the new monk gear (I'm not a fan to be honest), then artwork for Ninja, Black Mage, what I think is White Mage, Red mage and this one (Bard I think?):

Just because a lot of people were saying that red and blue seem to be the colors this expansion, it reminded me of this...

The name of the director of the film LITERALLY spells out the name of one of the most anticipated classes, and people are trying to dismiss that as pure coincidence? C'mon guys, everyone knows how much Japan LOVES its puns. This is right up YoshiP's alley.

I don't know. If we go off of what is blunt, I would say the next class is Blue Mage. Spiderman acquired his powers by being bitten by a spider, like Blue Mages get their powers from Monsters. It doesn't seem much more blunt than that. You take the core of the hero and match it to the core of a Final Fantasy class.

If it's blue mage, I'm afraid it will end up like a SMN version of blue mage in order to fit into the trinity. Many people maybe disappointed in how it turns out.
