Except Alchemist already exists as a class in the game.

You cannot take anything for granted, change eventually swallows everything you may try to immortalize.

Chemist in classic FF and Alchemist in XIV are very different. Saying Alchemist exists does not discount Chemist as a viable job (even if it has a slight name change - Bravely Default calls in Salve-Maker, Tactics A2 was going to call it Transmuter).

I'm not a big fan of the idea that both new jobs will be using swords as their weapons. If they let Dark Knight have a scythe after Stormblood that'd shake things up a bit more, but idk if they even have any plans for that outside of Yoshi vaguely stating "mebee" in a interview once.

Eh, you never know what the weapon will be. RDM is already confirmed as having a new weapon we never saw in a Final Fantasy before (rapier+familliar).I'm not a big fan of the idea that both new jobs will be using swords as their weapons. A sword + a floaty crystal in the off-hand. That's not very innovative. I'm excited to see how RDM actually plays but the weapon isn't really exciting.
I'd like to be able to see jobs that give us nunchucks, Merlwyb's dual weilded muskets (it says they're muskets on the wiki), whips, blitzballs, puppets, a proper gambler DPS, hand bombs, flutes, or brushes someday.
To be honest, I really hope that most of those never come to FF14 as weapons. The only one I'd like in your list are the whip and the double gun (and not even sure about this one since we already have the machinist). The others look like joke weapons and although they can be fun once in while (like yokai watch weapons), I wouldn't want a job based only on joke weapons.A sword + a floaty crystal in the off-hand. I was just listing off weapon types that have zero presence in the game so far that have been in the series before. Some of those have been Blue Mage specific (Quistis' whip, Relm's brush if you'd count her as BLU), other have been Gambler (Selphie's Nunchuk's, Wakka's blitzball). Gambler's always been kind of out there with the weapons it uses, I'd think that if FF XIV ever implemented it they'd do something new.The only one I'd like in your list are the whip and the double gun (and not even sure about this one since we already have the machinist). We have 3 sword classes counting RDM too and Samurai is going to happen eventually even if it doesn't in Stormblood. So another gun class that obviously already exists wouldn't be that out there. There's also gunblades.
Please don't even think about that job-ruining idea, please. We were already saved from that garbage weapon type by yoshiP and now you chuuni dweebs want to ask for it back? Just don't. Scythes aren't even cool.

You know, it is quite possible to voice distaste for an idea WITHOUT talking down to/insulting people. Just a thought ya know.
Though I wouldn't mind at least one scythe-like weapon to kinda nod to the XI days. Just one. Anyways, this train of thought is goin' off topic. Moving on!
