I'm not saying I think it will be DNC, because I don't, but it wouldn't so much be 'dancing with joy' as it is covert martial training disguised as dance.

Although a melee healer would add something new to the healer role.

Yoshi P has already stated he wants Samurai to be included in the next expansion as the Tank.

I'm surprised people always forget this.

He has also stated that BLU isn't likely to happen anytime soon since it wouldn't work well with the system we have in place.



Red Mage has already, basically, been confirmed with his Scarlet Witch T-Shirt.

OK, I was kinda stumped by the shirt at first too. I even looked into the Japanese version of Spiderman and his samurai like mech, leopardon to see if there was a connection there. But the more I think about it the more I think it was their way of simply saying "...And blue". Didn't the official translation say that Yoshi-P said "Red is the main color of Spiderman's outfit and red is the theme of Stormblood." But Spiderman's outfit is red AND blue.

That along with what everyone is saying about how he gets his powers from something he can then emulate, makes me start to lean more towards a blue mage.

So in short I think Yoshi-P was trying to tell us "Yeah... Stormblood has Red Mage, but it's also going to have blue."

Edit - Oh, and Red Mages have effectively no in-game lore right now either. But I have faith the dev team will take the NIN approach and add some for them leading up to it, or they'll take the MCH approach and have it come out of nowhere and fit perfectly.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but the little slide said they used a mix of Black and White magic, yes? My husband pointed out that the BLM quests in HW (I haven't done them yet) involve a rivalry between black mages and white mages. He suspects that the red mage story might pick up from that thread. It makes sense to me.

For you youngins, the original Spiderman theme went....

"Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a spider can...."

He was attacked (bitten) by a monster (a spider) and gained it's powers. Also for the non-comicbook fans there have been over the last few years storylines involving the "web of life". Wouldn't surprise me a bit if it was for Blue Mage and that the lore will involve "shamans tapping into the web of life for power." Hence, Blue Mage.

my feelings are more towards Beastmaster, with whips. Flayer (whips) was supposed to be one of the original classes in the game. We already have one pet class in the game and expanding on it is doable. Second reason is that I believe Yoshida is highly against adding Blue Mage in to FFXIV. The complexity of Blue mage will likely make blue mage the only job added when they do add it. It will take far more resources to make blue mage then it will to make any other job.

If this is a hint, it is likely something about the super hero that relates to a Final Fantasy job. Him talking about the director is likely to throw everyone off.

While spiderman got his powers from a spider, he is not Rogue who is more likely to be character they would use for Blue Mage. Spiderman slings webs.

I would honestly wait for a full translation, There are some weird guesses by people. But with what partial translations I'm seeing, he's either saying it doesn't have to do with the director and he knows there are multiple directors to the spiderman films, or the spiderman shirt has nothing to do with jobs. But that's merely a guess so take it with a grain of salt there folks. Salt shakers are your friends in this world of hints and teasers.

the "dancer" in stormblood trailer, isn't a dancer, she's a monk, just like derplander; she's not dancing, she's practicing martial art stances...like they do in every single asian martial arts movie, that's ever been made.
do they need to hint at jobs, in ARR, before they can release it in 5.0? do they need to patch in hints a year in advance?

Dancer fits in easily. Seeing as how they showed derplander as a monk and the girl in the red dancing, someone offered a really interesting theory - That the Ala Mhigo people taught dancers to fight so the Garleans wouldn't take notice. So while it looks like people are dancing they are actually training them as fighters :P If they did that I would be impressed...it's a pretty rad idea. Far fetched..I dunno, but its creative at least.

I took martial arts from Jason Frank..he taught me how to dance and fight. It's not that far fetched..lol and as an actress I have had quite a lot of roles where they ask me to dance and fight, like how the girl in red did. It is not unheard of. :P

And no, she is not a "monk" she is nothing as of right now. Yoshida already said he is not commenting whatsoever on what she is and we will find out in 3.5. Please stop posting false info.
