I think it is because aside from SAM, Dancer was the next job players were most excited about, and actually people only started to board the SAM hype train after seeing Yoshi P in a spiderman shirt and the Sam Raimi thing, i do not recall players talking about Samurai before this.
Not to mention that now having 2 dps over having 1 dps and 1 healer (or tank) does not make 100% sense. Hooray for having 9 dps jobs and longer queue times i guess?

I remember things differently. People created their own Dancer hype from the Stormblood teaser trailer. Samurai had high hopes for at least the prior year's fan festival.

sam was mentioned by the pnj yoshida two year ago while the anniversary, plus it was planned to be the tank of hw, before they switch to drk for obvious reason, and at that time a lot of people was disappointed to not get sam.

honestly we did know that sam and rdm was the next one for very long, we did mostly expect a third job and confirmation. dnc can be either an evasion or a support class, even if i dont see dance mending wound. blm was confirmed not for now while an interview after fanfest of tokyo...

ps: i need to understand how the queue will change most of the tank and healer will continue to play them main, you know? plus no one forbidde you to switch to a tank and healer, i main pld and mnk

I knew Dancer wasn't going to happen. There was nothing there to suggest it. The only thing I remember was at the start of the teaser where they are doing a type of warm-up and then moving into Monk v Monk fight.

From what I recall, DNC and SAM have been pretty equally hyped since way back in ARR. Aside from RDM and BLU they were among the top requested jobs to be implemented. The only thing that really tipped it in most people's minds to really favor SAM was the sam rami thing. The datamining could have literally been anything from a samurai npc to something not related at all to samurai, so that I don't count 100%.

And no, the NPC's argueing over Red/Blue doesn't count as that was ONLY in the ENG version of the game, no other region got that speech bubble. DNC was never, ever, ever mentioned, at least BLU is referred to in the ALC questline, Dancer doesn't exist anywhere aside from the sensual dancers in Ul'dah.

Sorry this is so late, while they're not mentioned by name, there exists a type of magic on Thavnair where mages sew parts of monsters to themselves in order to acquire their abilities, or something to that extent. You can use the XIVDB Lore finder to specifically look at ALC stuff, it's the...level 50 quest I believe?

Could be an interesting twist on Blue though, always concerning to do something new with a classic old element in a FF game :P. I'd probably be happy with whatever so long as they keep the theme of monster power, and it can be used in group play.

Although the part of forming monsters onto yourself would definitely push Raubhan away a bit in being a Blue Mage, since as far as I know he doesn't have any monster parts - that we can see :O.. lol. I mean he is known as the Bull of Ala Mhigo....
