True, at some point FFXIV will start having exclusive jobs. However, we will have every nostalgic job in-game before that happens. Exclusive jobs could still have nostalgic parts. For instance, they could add a completely new job concept that features the gunblade as a weapon.

I am curious about the battle system changes though. Will they be as heavy as the transition from 1.0 to 2.0 was? Maybe not, but hopefully the changes will not be too minor. For the current info we have, simply toying with cross-skills doesn't really imply much of a change.

Considering they've stated they want to remove the Classes at some point, part of me wonders if we'll see another ARR kind of expansion, maybe for 6.0.

My dream for an announcement at Fan Fest would be:

Red Mage - DPS
Blue Mage - Tank or DPS
Dancer - Healer
Samurai - DPS or Tank

Yes, I know that 4 jobs seems crazy, but it's not the much of a stretch if you think about it. SAM has actually been in development before, but it was scrapped for DRK instead. So at least some work went into it. And they have had a lot more time and money to work on jobs, so 3 new jobs plus one partially created job wouldn't be impossible.

Is 4 jobs likely? No. Like I said, it's just my dream lineup. But I'm really hoping for BLU at least.

IIRC Chemist was in consideration as the healer for HW before AST was chosen, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for them to revisit it again.

I'm inclined to agree. I think we all kind of knew that the first fanfest wouldn't have a lot of substantial information. They got down to the real meat of most of it in the second one, we know the majority of the content we're getting now. But now in the next fanfest they can give us the next new Job and the rest of the specifics of the stuff we've been really wanting to know about.

Less than a week to find out who is right, who is wrong, and who will be so ashamed they will never talk about this topic ever again in public!!!

I'm going to start doing random out-of-nowhere guesses:

Theory A (4 jobs)

• Red Mage Magic DPS
• Blue Mage Magic DPS
• Samurai Tank
• Geomancer Healer (YES! Geomancer! Just like AST, randomly coming out of nowhere without anyone's guess or clues!)

Theory B (2 jobs)

Second job is a Blue Mage with a Katana (basically, a Sam/Blu hybrid)
It will be a tank. And a DPS. In fact, the job system gets spun on it's head! Some jobs get dual roles! A war may be able to play as DPS! A DRG may be able to queue as Tank! And this Sam/Blu will be able to Tank or DPS!

These *ARE* meant to be far-fetched, but we so close now that all we have left is to wait. I say we try to guess the unpredictable, see if anyone hits something right, like whomever may had guessed AST before it was revealed.

I didn't like the idea of a blu/sam hybrid class at first. But thinking about it more, it would be pretty interesting. However I don't think that will happen as BLU is one those really iconic FF classes and will most likely be it's own class. My prediction was and still is that there will be 2 classes released at the start and one more later in the expansion, despite what was said about releasing classes mid expansion, I still get that feeling that they will. The first 2 will be Red Mage of course, and most likely Samurai ((tank)) as the second.

The 3rd class to be released later is either going to be BLU or DNC, my hunch is BLU though. I think SE is having too much fun tweaking the healers we already have to introduce another healer making their way on the dance floor (badum-tisss?)

IF the BLU/Sam thing happened, I think it would just be a Blue Mage and his weapon of choice just happen to be a Katana, and Artifact armor look samurai-ish.

I may had missed it throughout the long thread, but the biggest issue with BLU to me seems to be the weapon of choice. In this game, two jobs cant share the same type of weapon (SCH aside, but that's one root class.) What would be the Blue Mage weapon of choice in this game? If I recall correctly, in XI their artifact weapon (not only possible weapon) was a 1 handed sword.

If we speculate Blue Mage, we got to speculate about the unique weapon it would wield.
