it make sense to get the red mage to 50, from now the game will go like this, i will not be surprised if while the expansion after stormblood the new job will start at 60 *shrugs* but i'm curious about one point, i do expect that get this jobs start at 50 make it unable to get from the start, meaning you need to be 50 for get it. or i will kinda angry.

It's going to be a bit overwhelming on the amount of skills available at lv50 though.

Indeed, I wanted to try RDM but when I see we start at 50....I'm a little bit afraid of all those skills I'll have to learn at the same time :/

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

I have been looking forward to Red Mages eventually inclusion in this game. Even if it ends up horrible I will main it simply because I always thought it would ultimately be what my character becomes. Now I can see whether I have to hold up to the "even if horrible" part.

On the "level 30" vs "50" part...personally I only care in so much as the story questline is concerned, and our current track record is "2 seperate story lines at most per xpac." Old jobs get one storyline, new ones get 2. Course its barley a trend at this rate even and I'm not quite sure how Legacy worked with their class and job storylines, but going by ARR and HW "new" and actual new jobs get two storylines on introduction (counting classes for jobs in this case.) 50-70 gives enough space for two storylines even if they are connected to each other. Though if the storyline was fun I wouldn't mind starting at 30 for three seperate storylines instead.

Also remember unless someone uses a jump potion, newbies will still most likely need to beat Ultima Weapon to gain access to Red Mage and whatever other new jobs we get. So most of the "terrible" Red Mages you'll meet in the first new week are probably current/returning players. Aside from just figuring out how to do the job it probably won't be that bad.

i didn't play XI, and never cared about RDM, at all, but from this RDM clip, it looks quite fun, so i'm a bit hyped now certainly looks more fun than BLM or SMN; we don't know what new skills they will get, or how they will change skills, so i guess both BLM/SMN could get more fun too though.

The black Friday trilogy of South Park is coming to mind here.
eh im sure that happened, i never noticed it when i went nin, though; i was ahead of the wave, and was among the first o cap nin, on Balmung - in every instance i ran, ppl nergasmed at how cool nin was, and unless you're terrible player, it's hard to mess it up - there's not a huge difference between nin and drg for example, especially in pre-50 content.
well obviously you're going to see lot of shitty RDM in 50content....cause you start at 50 -.- you suddenly have some 20 skills dumped on your skillbar, that you don't know what they are for, so you'll have to get used to all the skills, and re-structure your skill bar.
I would recommend every RDM/SAM to run PotD from floor 1, and by the time you hit floor 100, you should be pro (well not really, mobs die to fast, to practice rotations) at least if you do it solo.

So. SE put a Gun Blade since FFVIII, then a Sword-Bow on FFXIII-2. And now, welcome the Rapier-Staff

I think the jobs should start at level 1

this would make people help others who need fates in lower area's even help people in dungeons.

if its 50 you are just skipping everything, you are geared and don't really need to do anything but move forward.

My cousin said that's why he wasn't interested in WoW whats the point of giving you levels if you don't have anything to do with the job, level it a whole 20 levels cap is broke? might as well unlock the full level and hop on the wow train.

So happy, my favourite Final Fantasy class is going to be introduced. A little sad that its not hybrid, since I prefer to heal more then dps, but ooh well, goodbye healing, hello damage dealer.

I've been thinking, and i really hope it's not another traditional combo dps (1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3-4)

I was hoping they'd be a healer too, but i'm okay with this. I've been needing a DPS job i enjoy, because my FC consists of about 50% healer means, and everyone has another role at 60 they can swap to to avoid conflict, but the only jobs i have at 60 are all the healers. It's kind of awkward to be the only one that can't switch.

I liked the concept of Red Mage in XI but, as always, the playerbase turned it into something that honestly disgusted me to no end--all in the name of "efficiency". The uniform was there, but the soul was stripped out, and no amount of Avesta videos could offset that fact.

I sincerely hope the devs are working out the ways RDM here can be effective in its DPS role and not allow certain sections of the playerbase (and you know who I'm talking about) to corrupt its identity. The way I hear it, not having WHM or BLM spells is a promising start (not counting cross-class skills, if any). No point in stepping on other mages' toes from the start. Starting the job at level 50 makes sense if their repertoire warrants it, i.e. key spells/abilities would go missing in Haukke Manor and other pre-50 dungeons. The dual-weapon is quite interesting, to say the least (I would have guessed a rapier/buckler tandem, though that would have suggested a Tank role) and I'll be curious to see the magic/melee combos in action come late June.

At the start of ARR, I had questions about how the devs would work RDM (or BLU, if the deductions in the forums hold true) into the game if they were to bring the job in at all. Hopefully, they will have answered my queries to satisfaction in 7 months' time.
