    Server Question (Lamia)

Having recently returned to the game after a couple years of absence I've noticed that several of the places I go seem pretty vacant on Lamia.

It was really disheartening to finally get to Ishgard and realize its nothing but a ghost town. Maybe I'm crazy/weird but when I play an MMO like this its nice to see a bustling city with all sorts of people running around and doing things.

What's worse is that I also convinced a couple friends to come back to the game who had quit long ago as well, one of whom never went beyond the free trial. They paid to xfer to my server and now I'm considering transferring to Gilgamesh. If I do transfer I'll pay for theirs since that's the right thing to do in this case.

Before I do that, I just wanted to hear some opinions on the matter and whether my server (Lamia) is considered healthy or if I'm just crazy.

Mostly everyone stays in Idyllshire. While you'll still find people in the city-states Idyllshire is the most populated area in the game. You'll get access to there at some point. Lamia is about average on the population scale. You'll be able to find plenty of people about but it's no where nearly as popular is other NA servers like Gilgamesh and Balmung.

Yeah, Idyl is the main hub in HW for post game, much like Mor Dhona was inn ARR. Basically, wherever you see Rowena set up het tomestone shop will be the hub for that Expac. I do think it's sad that Idyl is so empty, but it doesn't offer much once you're done with Cenutrio Seals at the moment. Even Limsa is more populated, but only because of the fact that the market is right next to the Aetheryte... Honestly, though, I just port to my Apartment now since there's an MB right there and no RMT spam...

To be fair, if you've only just reached Foundation, it isn't going to too populated on most servers because plenty have reached Idyllshire. That being said, you'll find more than double the playerbase on Gilgamesh or Balmung. I have a friend who actually transferred from Lamia to Balmung and he's talked about how it feels like a different game. Food for thought on both servers:

    - Gilgamesh is the unofficial raid server and generally more endgame focused.
    - Balmung is the unofficial roleplay server, though it has seen a growing raid focus, albeit in a more casual scene.

Both are in the Aether Datacenter, so when the cross server party finder comes out in 3.5, groups can be setup regardless of the server you're on. I can't speak too much for Greg, but Balmung is very populated in major cities like Ul'Dah and Limsa.
I was originally on Lamia also, transferred to Behemoth, so still Primal Datacenter. World of difference in my enjoyment of the game, but I have other reasons as well (such as joining the FC of the Twitch steamer I moderate for).

Forgot to add here too! If you do transfer, make a few alts beforehand. You can transfer up to eight characters for the one $18 fee. So if you ever plan to level a second character, you've got them on reserve instead of having to pay again. You'll have to wait 72 hours to transfer though. Just something to keep in mind.
