THEORY: Yugiri and her role going forward

With the recent screenshots from the SE press site showing Yugiri is returning in 3.5 (I hope with a new VA who sounds close to the original.), my mind got a spinning about why they are reintroducing Yugiri after she pretty much up and vanished from the story of FFXIV following the tragic events involving one of her Voice Actresses. To my recollection, Yugiri was pretty much non-existent in Heavensward, which made me quite sad since building up to HW, I was sure she was going to be the new NIN mentor to replace Oboro (Much like how Broken Mountain replaces Curious Gorge for Warrior or Eschiva replaces Raya-O Senna for White Mage.) however this didn’t happen.

Now I am wondering why they are reintroducing Yugiri after so long, perhaps the intention would be to set Yugiri up as a more regular member of the Scions, so when we eventually travel to Ala Mhigo for Stormblood, she will tag along and become the 4.0 NIN mentor. I think this may be the intention, since again, it felt like they were building Yugiri up to be the NIN mentor in HW. I also feel like this may be the best step since at the end of the lvl 60 NIN quest, it feels like Oboro has nothing left to teach you.

The other possibility is that they are reintroducing Yugiri to give her a proper send off, so the character can be put to rest, out of respect for her VA. Either could happen but I am hoping it is the former, since it would be fun to have Yugiri around again.

So, I guess to end this, all I can say is…thoughts? Opinions? Theories of your own? Post below! Let’s have a fun discussion about this!

After what happened with our HW traveling companions, I worry for Yugiri if she becomes one for SB...

Given that ms. Blake was only one out of...is it four different VA/language tracks? And she was herself a replacement for Yugiri's 2.0+ English voice, I am extremely against removing the character from the story in some misguided attempt to show respect.

Maybe if she had been the Japanese voice, who has never been changed, that idea might hold some merit (though I'd still prefer they simply replace her)? But the entire English cast has already been replaced once, and will very likely be again for Stormblood, so the English cast is obviously not held in much regard, at least from SE's side of things.

On the other hand, some small, tasteful in-game memorial might be appropriate, if it were dine very delicately. What happened to ms. Blake was absolutely a tragedy, so an opportunity for people to pay their respects would be fine, provided her family does not object.
Strong emphasis on tasteful, though. No rewards, no items, just something understated like a line of dialogue or a headstone somewhere; anything more and you're treading on ghoulishness.

I believe that was the in story reason to essentially shuffle Yugiri off the stage for a while, but I would have to go back and comb through dialogue to double check. But you may be right.

I thought she was tasked with tracking down Ilberd and the other treasonous braves. Don't remember if that changed after we fought him in Halatali and rescued Raubahn.

I think she was put their before her English voice actress' untimely death. Players only really started noting her lack of appearance after the events. Yugiri just has not been needed for the Ishgard storyline.

That SS seems like a council made to finally take part on the liberation of Ala Mhigo, Yugiri will provably take part on the story as an Ambassador of Doma, providing help with the battle for Ala Mhigo so they can get a similar treatment with Doma(in 5.0?). Domans are more interested in the empire than Ishgard, so it makes sense to have her back now, and I guess She's going to stay with us for a long time.

Sorry if I said something obvious, I have yet to get 3.4 MSQ done.
