You didn't have to buy a Fan Fest ticket to hear the date you can pre-order . I followed the translation on the FFXIV reddit discord server.

There was a thing about this i can't remember exactly but i'm pretty sure it's late January. IE: soon.

Makes me wonder if there's going to be another debacle like with heavensward. IIRC: You could pre-order the PC non steam version the day they stated. The Steam and PSN versions were available literally days before launch.
