Levequest teams causing a loss of enjoyment

A while ago I got kicked from a levequest because my lvl50 BLM wasn't using combinations. I'd got to lvl50 without even being aware of combos. This I found upsetting but, as the reason for being kicked out HAD been explained, I accepted it and spent some time studying and practicing combos.

Recently I have been kicked-out of another levequest by people who didn't seem to undestand Combos: U use Fire I and Fire III and this is the max chance of "free" and instant Fire III action. I was kicked because I wouldn't swap to Fire II, which has no bonus effects and would have rendered my combo pointless.

In addition, I am a console player. Text responses to chat are slow and annoying w/out a keyboard but no-one appears to want to wait for my response?

I am so shaken by this situation, all enjoyment has gone from my BLM and I've taken to levelling up Tzo's Tank classes as I DO wish to finish the main story line.

Well, usually you start off with using Fire III and then it depends on the number of enemies you're facing.

    >2
Fire II until you run out of MP, then run your Mana reg combo of Ice and restart your Fire Combo with using one single Fire III and go on with Fire II.

    <2
Fire I until you get a Fire III prog, that you will use instantly and then go on with Fire I until you run out of MP.

I am not 100% sure if you are aware of the fact that Fire II is an aoe attack and therefore much more handy if you are facing more than 2 enemies, even though you wont get a Fire III prog. ^^

There are some more additions to the aoe combo, such as using Flare at the end of your rotation and then using Transpose and starting your fire aoe combo right away without waiting for full mp regeneration and stuff.
But basically you use Fire II for groups and Fire I for single target.

Thank you - it is very kind of you to explain. If only THAT had happened in the game, instead of a "temper-tantrum" style ejection.

I'll bear that in mind, but I doubt I'll rush back at BLM.

I understand it is kinda hard to get into those things for a newbie, especially if you haven't played MMO's before, like I did when I started playing FFXIV.
But I were in a lucky position with my best friend being already endgame raider in here, so she took the time to get me into everything and explained a lot to me, must be quite hard if you don't have such an amount of support I guess.

If you ever feel like needing help or wanting to practice but need some advices feel free to contact me ingame, ever since we are playing on the same server. I am usually online in the late afternoon to 10pm ST during the week.
I do not have all jobs up to lvl60 myself but I do know some stuff about the ones I already have.

I really appreciate that, thank you!

Having played video games since the late 70s, over s series of media, I resent the fact that modern games don't come with a mini-manual that get you started. I will certainly note your details so I can contact you in game, thank you. I'll not become a pain though!

Yeah, I think it is somehow a clash of "generations", between players being around in FFXIV for years and the ones that are just starting.
I started to play a year (and a few weeks) ago and if you have to run the same type of dungeons over and over again everyday, because the game kinda makes you do so to gear up/ level up whatever, one can get really bored by it and therefore frustrated over years.

But it's still kinda sad they seem to forget how it was when they started and start being salty and insulting, because of frustration and none existant patience. It is somehow a problem of the way this game is set up, but also a huge personal problem, so don't let it get to you too much. Try to shake it off with an "such an d***head. Ok, I will try better next time." and try find yourself a FC with nice, helpful people.

If you haven't found yourself a Free Company yet, I can recommend a FC my friends are running. All of them speaking english and really, really nice and kind people, who focus on casual gaming and doing stuff together, instead of harsh progress and rushing through content.

I haven't really sought out a Free Company yet, have been enjoying cutting a lone path. I expect it might be getting towards joining forces with others though as it must unlock "other stuff" in the game?

If your friends FC is as nice as you claim, and is half-as-nice as you've been, yes please: recommend and I'll contact them when next online (strong possibility of tonight - the wife is on a late shift!)

You are not really forced to join a FC, but it's a common thing to do in an MMO. Of course you are still free to do everything alone, but then again it is nice to have an amount of some people you can ask directly whenever you are struggling or have a question. ^^ Ever since my friends are playing quite casual themselves they are not forcing others to be online alot or progressing in a certain amount of time, so it is all up to you which way you want to go in the game.

The FCs name is "Heart of the Griffin" and the shortcut is <<GRIFF>>, just contact their leader or ask for recruitment, they're always looking for new players, doesn't matter how experienced you are.
If you want to you can also mention I recommended them to you, but they will welcome you very nice and happily anyways.

Thank you. It'd be nice to have an online source of help/chat/friendship. I'll get in touch!
