Of course its a cash grab lets just hope they spend the money wiselyUtterly garbage. How do you justify this to everyone else that spent countless of hours levling their jobs? We will just see a bunch of level 50 players now who will have no clue how to play their damn jobs. If Yoshida was actually fair and righteous as he claims to be and not se FFXIV as some huge cash cow. You can be allowed to buy a potion for alternative jobs AFTER you beat the mainstory for ARR & HW no exceptions before that. It takes 1 month or so to clear ARR & HW.
How deceived are the rest fo you about not beeing able to catch up?
This whole formula of tomesystems and restrictions is why everyone can always catch up. I don't buy any of this I'm sorry. This is just to collect more money to bank.
So basically it's a case of Blizzard's Character Boost system? I see this being helpful for those who make alternate characters on other servers or their own and just don't want to go through the chore of grinding out levels and story.
Joining late into a game without any form of help does leave players feeling lost and confused especially when others won't help them, so this way they can be caught up and with other systems in the game (Hall of the Novice etc.) they can become a decent player should they choose to be. A lot of people still forget that everyone chooses to play this game, and chooses to do so in their own way, and the rest of us just need to respect that decision, regardless of how we feel on the matter.
I would hope that SE at least does a bit more research on how to to fine tune this system to at least prepare players who use it for the content ahead of them, so that they're not just being dumped into high-end content with no clue on what to do.
Yeah and how much of the cash shop and subs disappeared from game? The supposed 36 million, was it dependent on increasing cash shop sales of jump potions?
I swear half the people on the forums have never worked for a corporation or understand how they work. Try to screw the customer over as much as possible and hope to get away with it. Basically any info you see should be viewed, is how are they screwing me and how much money can they stuff in their pockets.
Of course they do! It would be inconceivable if Square Enix allowed a successful cash cow to fail.
Probably paid for by about £7.69 a month from all the subscriptions... Million quid a month rolling in easy. Plus box sales. Plus expansion sales. Plus existing cash shop sales. How much money do they need?
Considering the Jump Potions, when and if they are added, are slated to be brought in after Stormblood is released, probably they weren't factored into it.Yeah and how much of the cash shop and subs disappeared from game? Your an extremely cynical person. Not without some cause but the flipside here is it hasn't been too long since SE got badly burned from screwing over their playerbase with 1.0. That cost most of the people in charge their jobs.
The logic for the Jump Potions is sound even though I don't agree with all the aspects of how they plan currently to implement it. I'm a yes but with conditions person in regards to this whole Jump Potion thing. I see the need but I also see that there is a big risk of screwing up royally if they do this wrong.
However on the original point I was making that you Quoted, plenty of the money FF14 makes does go back into the production of the game. The person I quoted implied all FF14's earnings go to making other SE games. I am making the point that they are clearly reinvesting in this game otherwise we wouldn't have gotten the EU datacenters and we wouldn't have gotten the Server upgrades. Those things aren't cheap to implement.
Please read the above. I didn't say the Jump Potions are paying for the server upgrade. I have stated previously in this thread that my preference would be one free Jump and Story Potion included in the Stormblood expansion. That would make it a turn off to RMT while still fulfilling it's purpose. Giving new players a means to skip content and then attempting to discourage them from doing so by putting it behind a paywall undermines the point of having a Jump Potion in the first place. I think any additional Potion's should have a cost to discourage people using them for everything and infact I am not completely convinced they are even needed at all beyond new player catchup.
Fundimentally there is a need for something like the Jump Potions but they need to be handled well. Just copying over the Chinese and Korean version isn't a good idea as there are distinct cultural attitudes to that which vary between the communities. Again, I would point to the WoW system as one FF14 should probably take notes from. It is a very smooth and effective set up and serves it's purpose admirably. Done well and the system will only ever have to be tweeked for new expansions as the core mechanisms will always be applicable and the issue won't have to be revisited in a major way again.

Finally! Someone who sees it how it is.
It isn't about the best deal for the users, its about squeezing as much out as possible.
If causing excruciating pain to users increased profits you could guarantee Yoshi would be on stage talking about how excruciating pain for all users would enable them to release more content per patch.
We are just sacks full of money waiting to be plundered in SE's eyes.
