If you don't enjoy it pay the money and skip it! Dont force them to change what a lot of people enjoy with the connected storyline. They have already stated several times other key features won't be locked to the story which is more than enough. Was it explained why it seems they are making the same mistakes again with HW's leading into stormblood. Players complained what a bad idea the linking of ARR and HW quest chains was. Yet here a few years down the road history looks to be repeating and a round about admittance it cause issues to the player base growing. Which was one of the biggest complaints pre HW.
They should limit one per customer.
They should just change the definition of new player. Make new player status dependant on the amount of content that has been completed. I.e. You do 200ish dungeons/raids/trials to have the green sprout removed when you log in. If players can just jump straight past heavensward, they should still be treated like new players.
So.... It would take too much work to add a function that accomplishes the exact same thing as the potion? It would take quite a bit of rework just to accomplish an in game skip, which, as others pointed out, would take a long time and would cause future content to come to a halt and we know how loud people got when 3.1 was delayed when the devs needed a vacation. Unless Square magically gets the dev team more people to work this out, this is what we're gonna get.
Also, what if the person who jumped past the story has second thoughts and wants to experience it after all? Would there be any way to reset it? Seriously would love it if they just revamped the system and allowed us to progress along the story at our own pace without gating the majority of content behind it, I personally wouldn't mind if it took them awhile to accomplish this as it would alleviate alot of stress and concerns for future content.
*sigh* It's like people don't bother listening.
We - at least I - do not want to skip the MSQ entirely. We just want to be able to play the rest of the game (which is primarily instanced content) without being forced to first plow through the MSQ gates.
I listen perfectly. Everything is set up in a way to make thing cohesive, I'm sorry you and many others don't understand that. This really isn't even an issue anymore most of the 3.x patches have been cut to have barely any filler. So again pay for the skips and let everyone else enjoy a cohesive story that ties everything together. The new jobs won't be gated which is what a lot of people had an issue with from HW. Would I like the new zones to hopefully not be locked? Yes, but if they are then ill suck it up and do what needs to be done to access them.
Its about the journey and being a main title FF game many fans from series want that and enjoy that.
I am guessing the Jump potion pays for the extra work devs put in to enable the skip and possible loss in revenue frome them dropping the PS3. So in the east 30% of new players use the jump potion. Now in the east morals are much higher than in the west and the thought of taking shortcuts even in the gaming world is shunned against however in the US several people take as many shortcuts they can purchasable or not.
So while its 30% over there, we could see 50% or higher here in the west. Regardless I would like for them to increase tank and healer rewards in leveling roulette to encourage more people to play those roles.
Asia players (Japan, South Korea, China, ...) are paying the same or even more for micro-transactions, f2p/p2w games, etc. than western players.
Even some of their popular FPS are p2w and nobody cries out.
Asian pride. xD
Why do you think those things are in Korean/Chinese store already?
You mean like entry into stormblood? Read the first post of this thread, you need to beat 3.55 part 2 to enter Raelgars Reach (or wherever the expat starts).
Isn't the jump potion an ingame skip? won't it take the same amount of time? (except with one being A) free, and B) far more intuitive to player experience). As I said, the technology has already been used within the game.

And???? As ive said some of us appreciate the continuous story! SE clearly doesnt want to crap all over the story like they have with other features. If you want to reach right up to Stormblood without doing ARR or HW reach into that wallet and pay the price for a skip.
Here's the thing, if forced between paying for a skip or having to trudge through the storyline to access almost all the instanced content, most people will just go "Nope! Won't play this game." - Something else needs to be done, and I speak as someone who plays FFXIV for the story. If you want this game to thrive, you need to have a way to incentivise newbies while all the veterans steamroll ahead. Most new players couldn't give 2 hoots about the story and would rather it die in a fire. I don't think you and I will ever agree though. And???? White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
So we need to butcher all of it for the sake of people who want to skip and don't want to pay real money to skip? Can't really have your cake and eat it too. The issue seems to be people wanting to skip it for free or demand SE change the whole system for their own benefit while screwing everyone else who does not mind how the system is now. Trimming the main story would be ideal but we know SE will not do it due to money and time restraints, the pay off though a skip feature!
