No. Commit sudoku please. So to make it fair, it would be nice to see an Asian class being a Tank. I mean, we have Ninja who takes the role of a DPS, would be nice to see Samurai added to the Tank tier list in 4.0, thoughts? I mean to be fair, we got a lot of DPS classes as it is and Red Mage is 99% confirmed if you notice the obvious hints of Naoki Yoshida so another DPS class.. Naoki Yoshida, ik you listen to the community so hope you consider Samurai becoming a Tank class!

I face palmed.. then giggled.
OT
No thanks. Would like to actually see a Two-handed sword wielding DPS class. To people claiming higher que times and using NIN as their example. I have mained NIN since it's release and have little memory of these extreme wait times you speak of.
As to what else can be a tank. DRK in FF has never been a tank to memory, therefor other things could be a tank with a little imagination and reworking. RDM could juggle between spells enhancing Mag/Phy damage resists. DNC (Dancer) could be an avoidance type tank that avoids attacks through it's fluid like dancing. Geomancer can be reworked to cut damage through earth spells. Etc etc.
Stormblood doesn't need a new tank, or a new healer. 1:1:1 is false balance and it's unsustainable.
In addition, we don't need Samurai to be the fourth Slashing Damage Tank, the third Two-Handed Weapon tank, and the third Sword Tank.
Dodge Tanking is inherently terrible design, don't even start.
1) As long as it's not that dumb "armored shogun" stereotype, I don't really care what role it is (probably DPS).
2) Who said we're getting three jobs? Because a) there's been no official statement saying that there would be three jobs, b) the "we're lacking tanks" argument is easily countered by the "there are enough tank players" argument, c) if I was a game developer wanting to test new combat mechanic systems (like what we're getting in Stormblood), it would make more sense to me to use non-critical roles (i.e. melee and ranged DPS) for new jobs to test those waters and THEN make new jobs for critical roles (tanks and healers) once the results of testing those combat mechanics systems came in and have been suitably balanced out, and d)
I'm not seeing three silhouettes there. Maybe it could be just a placeholder, or maybe devs are placing quality over quantity, who knows....
And there it is, now you're moving goalposts here. A rapier is a "real" sword just as much as any other form of sword. People clamor for a "Sword dps" but in reality they don't want a sword dps, they want SAM specifically and it's disingenuous for them to say they want a sword DPS. Once you point out that things like most Ninja weapons classify as swords, or that Red Mage is very likely going to be the next DPS job and they use swords, then the excuses start flowing just like this.
The "armored shogun" archetype is exactly the archetype of samurai throughout virtually every Final Fantasy game. The instances where there's samurai-like characters that are not this archetype are decidedly NOT referred to as Samurai. To implement a Final Fantasy Samurai and not have it wear it's iconic armor/helmet would be a disservice to Final Fantasy fans.
It was hinted during the 14 hour broadcast that there would be 3 jobs added in Stormblood (Relating the number of jobs being added to the Summer event which featured 3 rangers/sentai. As for the silhouettes, Yoshida answered this in an interview with Famitsu after the NA fanfest this year that the silhouettes are not representative of the number of jobs being added in Stormblood.

Whatever role it takes, everyone is going to make their Samurai modeled after some stupid anime that has created this new standard of being completely over the top and unoriginal. Just watch lol, there will be so many glamours with Lord's/Lady's Yukata sporting the bare legs and Katana.
Make it fair, make SAM a healer! All problems solved an no one is happy \o/
I understand (not really in fact but I respect it ^^") why people want SAM as a tank but....we really need a sword DPS imo ^^"
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

This guy/girl gets it. I want to play a sword based class, but i DON'T want to tank. Don't let us down, SE. Even if sam does become a tank, i can use the ravana weapon for ninja that looks like it is dual wielding swords, but its just not the same lol
