To be honest adding in new tanks will help for a short time while people level those up but once you hit level 60 those same tanks are the ones who were running your level 60 expert and roulette to begin with. Now some may find a new tank they love and latch onto it (how it was for me and DRK and I refused to tank) but the majority who love tanking will still be tanking and those who refuse to tank, will refuse no matter what class you toss into it.

Please no...I want to be a SAM DPS...no more tanking ugggh. They already picked DRK for that, which works fine..we do not need another 2H tank ; ;
I'd like to see another tank/dps hybrid, like WAR. We know pld/drk off tanking is garbage. Having a viable high damage second off tank might finally knock warriors off of their pedestal. XD

I honestly could care less for Sam but do we really need Sam as tank when Dk is a tank?
Dps would be cool

It's true that 60% of the people who hate tanking will not tank however, the other 40% will play the job because of it being samurai. So it would increase the numbers of tanks. Perhaps not by a huge percent but somewhat.

that's what they said about nin and drk too...well it didn't happen; no one is going to switch role, just for SAM, unless they like the role.
let's say SAM is tank - ppl who like SAM, but not tank, are going to be disappointed, and not play it. I like DRK theme, but most of the time i don't want to tank, so i don't play DRK very often...It's same with SAM...if they make it tank, i'll only play it occasionally, when i'm in the mood to tank...which i haven't for the past few months.
also they will release other jobs too, and level cap 70, so ppl will be playing all jobs. also it goes both ways; some ppl will drop tank role to play new dps jobs, so no, number of tanks won't increase.

How much did Dark Knight increase the amount of active tank players?![]()
It did help, not by an astounding number but enough I feel to make a difference. I mentioned before but I refused to tank, now that I have DRK I may actually try to go as a DPS, see a big wait and say screw it and jump in as a Tank where as before would have been a "Nope" and went healer or waited it out. Not saying I want SAM as a tank but I wouldn't say no either way. If we do not get a tank in the expansion with the new classes were going to start hurting for wait times or POTD is going to be booming even more so. Personally prefer to learn my jobs in actual dungeons over POTD.

No one can actually answer this with any credibility except for SE themselves because they'd actually have the metrics. So you can act smarmy all you want, you don't have the proof it didn't increase active tank players either.
