Talking to NPCs while mounted

Wouldn't that be convenient? Instead of having to dismount and remount everytime you talk to an NPC you can simply remain on your mount during the conversation. No need to play those mount/dismount animations (and sounds!) every single time you talk to someone.

If there is a problem with this due to handing over items and cutscenes, well, just dismount automatically when you need to hand over the items or the cutscene is about to start play.

It's a very small thing, but I feel like it would smoothen the mount feature AND improve the immersion - people talk to each other irl while on their bike, in their car or when riding a horse, so why can't we do the same in a fantasy game?

I'm the Warrior of Light AKA the Chosen One AKA Hydaelyn's Champion. THEY are the ones who should mind their manners, what with them ordering me around like a delivery girl/boy. Also, I can already barge into stores, taverns and CHURCHES on a smelly chocobo or a blood-thirsty behemoth without ANYONE batting an eye so its not like it would be particularily lore-breaking.

I don't see a reason why this would happen, considering most important NPC are in areas where you can't mount to begin with. Yes, there is Idyllshire and Mor Dhona, where you ALREADY CAN block someone's view with your fat chocobo in those areas if you want to, but I have yet to see it happen, at least to the point of the worst case scenario you mentioned. Also, I have played other mmorpgs with mount systems, and in those where you could talk to NPCs while on your mount, being in someone's way was never a problem - even in those with actual character collision!

But then again I'm pretty dumb so eh.

You probably didn't play at the beginning of 2.0 where the Waking Sands was open to everyone crowding a tiny room with their minions out with everyone hovering over Minfilia. I already have to deal with people melting into the Wood Wailer whenever I want to do the Palace of the Dead and I seen someone be AFK for days on their fat moogle mount. Just because you don't see it happen doesn't mean it doesn't happen at all and just because other MMOs "done it better" doesn't mean this one can too because good lord this game has a mess of problems.

But at least you admitted to how smart you really are.
