It was the most polled, there are hundreds of threads on it, and if not thousands of feedback on it from the fan base. Not only that, but it was also teased heavily in the Stone & Steel Artbook. Why would SE do that? Players want more race diversity so bad. The only saving grace at this point is if they revolutionize player customization.

Actually, all that Viera concept art we've seen was the first concept art for the AuRa.
SE originally was going to have the AuRa be a rabbit demi-human race with the same lore and naming conventions they have now but they decided to go with something they felt "the game didn't have".

Lore doesn't mean anything if it wasn't actually Viera like the Miqo'te (Mithra), obviously.

Even if it didn't happen this expansion I still have hope for the next. Those numbers don't lie, but I still hoped that we get some race at all. I'd be even more disappointed if there were no extra customization for the character creator.

Even if it didn't fit yet, there are still many other races in the series. They could of picked one, and made it work.

Im in agreement with this sentiment.

We really need to give our current options some love now that the PS3 isn't holding them back with it's whole 512mb of RAM.

-Higher texture resolution for characters
-better shaders
-options that aren't locked to a specific face.
-additional sliders
-butts
-man-nips
-more options in general.

Once we get that out of the way, a new race would be great, and it would be better off for it.

The best argument for their conclusion I've heard is that since they'd basically be miqote/au'ra but with rabbit ears and a rabbit tail it wouldn't be the most dev time or resources in the world to implement. That said, that's also the best argument against their inclusion considering they're the same damn thing. A lizard-ey race beat bunny race in polls before heavensward and we got it; au'ra didn't exactly set the world on fire.

Maybe someday, but there's waaaaayyyyy more pertinent things they could be spending their time on than making another miqote race... like making the endgame dynamic enough that fewer people unsub between patches.
