More DCs and 90k's hit Aether/Primal!

Was doing Aquapolis with some FC mates. Myself and another FC mate started DCing at the same time. Now, neither of us can get back in without getting 2002 lobby errors.

Did a traceroute...packet loss starting around where I hit Level3. No less than 8 requests timing out. Took longer to reach the server: usually takes me 12-13 hops...took 18 this time, and a noticeable increase in my ms. Whenever I wasn't just having outright packet loss/time outs.

Really. Can we stop with this please, Level3?


EDIT: Still unable to get onto my server (Cactuar). No longer routing through Level3 in my traceroutes, but hitting Ormuco's servers now. If Ormuco is still having issues as well, that's probably why I still can't get on. Just wanna playyyy. T^T

EDIT #2: I'm thinking today's issue may lie with the winter weather that is apparently hitting Montreal right now, since some people from Montreal are posting on Reddit that it's pretty snowy there. Not much to do until everything subsides, I suppose.



EDIT #3: I'm still convinced this is a weather issue, but I think it should be noted that Level3 is responding to tweets about what's going on with FFXIV today, and is saying they will look into whatever is going on.

My last tracert (about 15 minutes ago) routed me through Level3 again. Took 18 hops to reach the server...and tons of packet loss along the way. I am curious to see if Level3 posts any response about what could be going on.

yep same here. This is really getting old. Is Se doing maintenance on the servers for the upcoming 3.5 cross server PF? I cant think of any reason the servers need to be acting like this unless someone was actively messing with them or they are getting DDOSed for no reason. Last time this happened I got error 2002 for 90m in order to finally get back on.

Maybe its not their fault, maybe its the ISP and everyone just so happens to experience disconnects across the whole servers and ...... oh wait. No cause even those with the same ISP don't all get booted off. This also doesnt affect any other game i've been playing nor my web browsing.

Well, it looks like it's Level3 again, which has nothing to do with SE, really. So it's not SE's fault. My ISP always routes me through Level3's Montreal servers to reach SE's servers, and I can't get past Level3 without the request timing out.

Your other games probably don't route through Level3 servers to reach the game servers. But, without a traceroute, difficult to say.
This is getting really annoying though. Level3 needs to get its crap together.

Was about to finish my level 44 cutsceen and i got 90ked and now getting 2002 (for about 15 mins now).
Pls...all i want for xmas is to be able to play this wonderful game like any other game without dcing and getting locked out. :'(

I did some digging and it seems I found the issue.
Level3 has been Level3 since launch, therein lies the problem. We all have leveled up several times and Level3 is still Level3. How can we expect a Level3 to support any of our needs? If I am looking for a raid tank I don't just look for any Level3 sprout... so why - then - is this acceptable for a network?!
I hereby call all aid to help Level3 level up... we need Level3 to ding desperately or we may all be doomed.

Just got home, to clear my weekly towers for Aether Oil. And the server says no.

Tracert is fine right up until it hits Montreal, then times out. SE really needs to uncouple itself from that french canadian POS organization.

Unfortunately, Level3 is a pretty big Internet backbone for the majority of the US, and redirects a lot of the Internet traffic. And SE can't do anything to dictate how traffic is directed to their servers.

Why do people assume Level 3 is a Canadian problem? This is only the second time that the issue has been on the Canadian side of this American company. Routing in from Canada hasn't been an issue until these last 2 problems.
