Problems with Directx

Some time ago this error happened to me, but since i was able to "avoid" it i didn't give it importance. However i would like to discuss this problem.

The problem is a "bug" that abruptly closes the game not finding the device directx when i'm playing in full screen and i'm trying to minimize the game with alt + tab to find information on the web (recipes, drops, etc.)..

Some people recommended me to play on windowed mode. Really did not want, but i tried (i like to play games in full screen). At first it worked well and could see websites while playing, but occasionally, every X minutes the game closes because the same error: "not found directx device". I decided to return to fullscreen mode, with which i can play without suffering this error, although i can't minimize the game...

My question: is there any way to fix it? it's caused by my graphic card or something like that? can i do something to solve it?

Or it's a bug of the game? If it's a bug... will it be fixed in a future patch?

Are you play in laptop?
It's too little information for ppl to figure out what's going on.
2 things I can think of:
1. you played in laptop with Nvidia Optimus card. It switch graphic card when your system not on full load. That gave me lots crash of "not finding DirectX device" before at windows mode. Full screen is completely fine.
2. your graphic card is too hot. For my desktop, my graphic card's temperature is lower when I played in full screen.

Yep, sorry. I'm playing in a laptop, and i have an NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M. In fullscreen my graphic card's temperature is "high", but i can play without problems.


Answa. Gracias, me esperaba algo así. He visto la aplicación "windower", pero prefiero no usarlo para evitar baneos o problemas de ese estilo, además de que no quiero liar los ejecutables del FFXIV xD

Bueno, el programa como tal no hace nada excepto dejarte jugar "full-screen" aunque en windowed mode. No te brinda ventajas sobre otras personas. En ese sentido, dudo que te baneen. Simplemente no pueden respaldarlo por ahora. Es bien fácil de usar (hasta yo puedo, jaja).

This is a problem since FFXI. It's not your computer. It's going to be fixed, at the latest with 2.0. Solutions: play in windowed mode or use the script some people have spoken about that makes your windowed mode look full-screen. Or... an answer SE will likely delete from here if stated explicitly but is well-known since FFXI... That is all I'll say.
