    None.
30 fps are fluent to the human eye, everything above it is vanity.

It's not uncommon on laptops, my old laptop gets into the same temp region pretty fast and I cleaned my fans and am using a good cooling pad (well, my brother is, cause i gave it to him). That's one of the reasons why I absolutely hate gaming laptops, not only do they get hot as hell, shortening their lifespan, they also suck performance-wise.

Actually YoshiP mentioned they're using some people who work on luminous to make the engine for FFXIV in one of the interviews, so FFXIV will use a modified luminous engine imho.

I wonder if Square Enix will work together with Sony to produce a FFXIV+PS3 bundle specifically. And another thought would be is that will the PS3 be hyped up since its on a 256 ram presently. Just curious to know.

You really must go see a doctor if you are unable to make a difference between something running at 30 and 60 fps...

Just google and learn, I'm too lazy to make a speech regarding that. Any normal human being can make a difference between something running at 30 and 60fps.

I know I don't have the greatest pc, but I built mine from scratch 9 months ago and spent somewhere around $2000 building it. Maybe it is a cooling issue on my end (only using fans that came with case, graphics card, and cpu) but man this pc gets hot enough to heat the room its in. It doesn't happen often but occasionally I'll get a blue screen from running this game.

Seems to me the problem would be the current game engine. I seriously hope the new engine they're going to be using will fix this.

I'll try reducing the fps to 30 like ChiefCurrahee suggested and see if that helps. thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Antipika, i'm not going to argue with you about it, that discussion has been talked to death numerous times. I don't see any significant difference between 30 and 60fps, but i see the difference in temps (= lifespan shortening)

Well you are the one being special in that case, but you shouldn't convey that idea on forums. It has been proved by lot of serious sources that the eye is not "limited" to 24 or 30 fps like some people believe.

The difference is huge. If you take a recent example, Sonic Generations on console is limited to 30 fps. PC version is 60 fps. The PC version is noticeably more smooth which enabled it to get more favourable reviews thanks to that.

I will agree that from ~80 and above it becomes almost impossible for most of people to notice a difference (some will still). But 30 and 60? Huge difference for most of people.

The right solution is not to limit something @30fps, but to buy a proper cooler, or sell your graphic card and buy a lower end model. If one is unable to see the difference above 30fps, then why one would waste money to buy a high end card?

To... play more demanding games that are yet to come @30fps?
The argument of 30fps vs 60fps is like the one of 320kbps mp3 vs lossless. For most people, the difference is not significant enough to warrant using lossless audio. To hear the difference, you really have to concentrate on it, and that's not what you are usually doing when listening to music. It's the same with games, really.

If you want to prove you can see the difference, you'd have to do double blind tests: ABX test

"No proof, no convition" - that's the rule followed when it comes to lossless audio and IMHO, it applies here too.

The difference between 30 and 60 fps is more like your average 96kbps CBR WMA vs a v0 MP3 320kbps vs lossless is more a 80fps vs 200fps battle. No need to give me the link to the ABX test definition also.

To... play more demanding games that are yet to come @30fps?
That's just a waste of money. There is no point in buying a graphic card too early.

You'd save more money by buying two middle range cards, leaving ~2 years between the two, rather than buying a high end one for it to last 4 years. That just doesn't work with graphic cards nowadays. Price of higher end models is just dropping to fast.

But oh well just keep denying the reality, cannot really blame you after all since that's all you -can- see it seems, and I do really think that you should talk to a doctor about not being able to see the difference between 30 and 60 fps.

It has been proved that the human eye sees around 25-30fps as fluid movement, the only way to test it is have 2 movies or games one running at 30 fps and one running at 60, the tester has no idea which is which and they have to guess after each have been tested.

You used sonic generations as an example, but you knew which was running at 30 and 60 therefore your own personnal test was invalid also it was not in a controled environment, I have known huge framerate drops on PS3 and there is no way to check if it is constantly running at 30 fps. If the game had a drop in framerate you will have thought there was a differance when it was actually running at 15-20, which would show lag.

You cant just play the same game twice and say there was a differance, because the differance wasnt 30 vs 60 fps. Also the limited games have to be running on the same hardware, or the hardware could be to blame.

Sorry but you are wrong thank you good bye, btw a pidgeon sees movement as 150 fps, so maybe you are a pidgeon and they are both slideshows.
