Whats your tolerance for new players and those that struggle in certain dutys?

So I got to thinking about a post when I was answering a question on raiding someone posted. So I'm really curious about this so lets say, your doing a roulette and u get Sastasha or one of the early low level dungeons do you instantly que out of them, because its so easy you don't wana waste your time. I would hope the answer to this is no, but the thing is these dungeons take almost 25 to 30 mins depending on. With that being said why is it every time I que for one of the older extreme primals after about ten mins if the first try isn't successful someone leaves, or I was doing syrus tower the other day for the first time I said Im new the healer left right away.

It's happened time and time again its almost like clock work, so why is it that people will give 30 mins to the easiest content in the game but not to something that may be a bit more difficult for some. But it doesn't end there it just happens everywhere I've seen it happen in temple of qarn, aurum vale, dd, and Pharos Sirius. And I get it people don't want to waste their time, but also at the same time its not helping new players get any better, especially when alot of times through some of the more difficult old stuff they run it with others unsync not getting the real effect of things. So what happened, what happen to those people I see every time I look at a guide, and when the content was relevant people saying how many times it took them to do this or that. How many times it took someone to do titan or ifrit extreme how the clock went down to the last seconds until you got it right. I don't feel like from what I've seen now that people are willing to do that any longer I am but I'm of the minority.

So my question is what is your tolerance level, everyone knows that every experience doesn't take an hour long , but sometimes it might if someone isn't getting it. Have people forgotten that its a difference in playing a game for three years, and then playing it for 5 months. I would hope that anyone's skill level after years is better now than it was after they played a couple of months. Were, you someone posting about how stuff was challenging then, but then now with a handle on it you arent willing to give someone else that same chance to learn. Wow this is a long post, but I'm just curious to peoples answers the game seemed to be alot more forgiving a few years ago, or even a year ago than it is now. So whats your tolerance level and do you keep in mind that once you may have struggled with some of the same content someone else is now? And may I say no Im not just referring to me and what Ive done in certain content, I kinda hover around content for a while until I know if I get again that Ill be able to do it before I get a bunch of get good post ha

My tolerance for new players is much higher than it is for people writing long messages without a single line-break.....

I.. cant read that giant wall of text. Formatting is important >.<

Anyway going off the title, I'm fairly tolerant. I dont mind explaining things, and I dont mind a few wipes. The only time I start to lose my patience, is if i've explained a certain mechanic over and over and over, and someone keeps ignoring it. I can understand having to learn a new mechanic, but if you've died to it five+ times, and you dont seem to be making any effort to learn/avoid the mechanic, that frustrates me beyond belief.

.. Those are the ones that I stop healing when i play my WHM. I know that sounds horrible but.. If i Rez you four or five times and you're not even trying to learn or stay alive, it feels like wasted MP to me.

Now don't get me wrong.. If the player is trying to learn and comprehend a mechanic, i dont get upset. We could wipe ten or twenty times and I wouldnt be mad, as long as the player is showing effort, and showing that they're trying to get it down. I know some people learn at a different pace, and some people have a harder time grasping certain mechanics. So as long as you're trying and putting in the effort, i have absolutely no problem with whatever happens.

New players? Bring them on. I like teaching. But, I have ZERO tolerance for people that refuse to be taught.

If someone is new, I will happily help. But, if the GLD still won't use Flash after explaining it? Sorry, patience gone. Still killing Spiny Plume after going over it? You're a fool. Die to the same simple telegraphed AoE three times in one fight? Go play Candy Crush.

My time teaching at university taught me not to waste time on people that don't want to learn. That energy is better spent on people that want your help and can use it.

It depends entirely on the individual.

On the rare (very rare) occasion you get someone who is receptive to advice, I'll take as long as they need. I'll explain fight mechanics, their rotation and utility (if it's a class I know), ways to improve, things to try, anything they want, if they are on my server even beyond whatever duty we are doing.

I don't want to force myself on people, so normally just say if they want any help or advice, then let me know, and leave it at that, it's almost always met with complete silence. The fight goes badly, quickly, and insults are thrown around until someone quits

My tolerance for new players is pretty high, if I'm tanking or healing, I will offer what advice and tips I can. I will try to explain mechanics but it is all on them to accept and wield that knowledge!

What I am losing my patience for is when I am tanking, enter a dungeon and it pops that "Someone is new to this dungeon!" message and I ask whose the new player? Do you need things explained? Would you prefer I slow things down so you don't get overwhelmed? And the reply is usually cold, dead, silence. (I hear you back there crickets but I'm gonna need ya to shut up!) I am absolutely losing my patience for that! It is OK to admit you're new folks! No one is gonna boot you for admitting you're new!

That's really my only compliant with new players, when they don't make themselves known. I mean, I am still sorta new to tanking and I make it clear when it is my first time tanking a dungeon. So there shouldn't be a problem admitting you are just new to the game.

I have lots of patience for new players. Much less patience for "experienced" players who fail basic boss mechanics in lowbie dungeons they've done hundreds of times (looking at you, Ninja from last night's Sunken Temple Run).

We were all new once; only an asshole would be impatient with someone who is still learning.

As long as they make an effort to learn what I'm trying to help them with, I'm fine helping. If they ignore it, I just stop giving advice, but you gotta watch because if they are on PS3 or PS4 they may not be able to type a response that they are taking the advice. As for new people in dungeons--I'm never sure if they happen to be an alt or actually are new if they don't say anything so I won't give advice until I notice some slip ups in bosses or give advice for anything not immediately obvious (like which pools to stand in and when during the last boss in Gubal HM).

I remember once this tank did not know the rotation to actually keep hate (they kept doing Riot Blade--the skill that gives you MP back as a gld/pld) and despite me telling them which skills to use in what order, they just kept doing riot blade spam (with no flash mind you) and mobs kept trying to kill me from healing or dpsing. What's worse, I ended up getting that same tank 3 times in different leveling roulette duties and in none of them did they take my advice. I think that's one of the few times I lost patience.

I love new players because I love teaching. However, it's when they don't want to be helped that I get put off.
