When I acquired a house they made the demo rule understood in no uncertain words, they also give the player plenty of warning. So if any party is responsible more for this it is you, so if you don't mind me saying - go grow a pair and apologize to your wife for letting her down. And use the tech support area of the forums for tech support.

Doesn't matter for single homes only the owner can stop the timer.

Anyways it not really all SE fault they send you emails saying this going to happen I believe there even a way to check in game also from your menus. Also took the time to invest in a house but didn't bother to check the rules and how the system works? But none of our replies will most likely be read anyways cause it was likely a rant thread and person will never come back to check replies since they said cancelling sub.

Agreed this wasn't an SE error this was human error. If he knew he wouldn't enter frequently he should have let his wife buy/own the house so she could maintain it. Obviously that would have kept the issue at bay and she would not have gotten upset. Owning a house in the game is a respocibility to the land and your tenants to maintain and follow the rules.

This is just another setback on your wonderful Eorzean adventure! Just like how Estiniendo became possessed by Eggnog, you and your wife courageously put down the evil dragon and saved Coerthas from everlasting despair. Now you and your wife must find a way to work together to scrape up some gil and scope out a new home. (NOTE: Stormblood expansion is bringing new homes to a new ward in Coerthas, snowy setting overlooking beautiful mountains and Foundation itself. So maybe this is a good thing. You can also retrieve 80% of your gil back from housing vendor.)

A simple guide to buying a house: 1) Craft and sell 5 Scintillant Rings for 1 mil a piece, for a total of 5 mil profit (prices vary on server). 2) Everyday scope out plots on each ward, easy to do at each main city-state. I would suggest Goblet, since it's the least popular. 3) Buy a house.

It sucks for your loss... but on Hyperion, we know single players who own 6-7 houses. Which to many feel its unfair that SE wont simply make it "Per account" basis which would allow your alts to share ownership in the house you already have. So when ppl hoard houses... yea, they may not remember to enter them all.

Yes it sucks that one has to enter the house and unlike Ultima Online where you just have to have a single house and active account to keep things going. FFXIV isnt that way since housing is so hard to get. They do send emails to people who can help prevent it. Its also in the Timer menu for Estate to keep an eye out.

Someone who wants the house can now use it. You no longer need to worry about it, it's not big loss for yourself, as someone who didn't use it.

I do hope that everyone at Square Enix feels proud of themselves for hurting my wife. While I'm sure it doesn't matter much to anyone there, but my wife and I will be canceling our subscription, and we'll be sure to inform anyone thinking about playing FFXIV, that they should look elsewhere, perhaps somewhere with a company and devs that actually care about their customers.

Rant thread or not, I agree 110% with Sylraein's post. They give you MULTIPLE ways of warning you, and you seemed to ignore them. Your fault, not theirs. Moving on to more pressing issues...
